We decided to bite the bullet and pay ten euros for a city bus tour I know, I know this totally goes
We wandered for a bit, but grew frustrated because we had no idea as to where to go and my Spanish, tired and true, just wasn t helping the situation. Needing to break and map out a plan, we sat down at a restaurant and discussed our situation over some lunch. Finally, I built up the courage to use my Spanish, and when I tried to ask the waiter where to pay, I instead said, Should we fight here? Spanish IV, ladies cheap carrental orlando florida and gentlemen.
We decided to bite the bullet and pay ten euros for a city bus tour I know, I know this totally goes against everything I believe in because we realized we just weren t accomplishing much on our own. Turns out, this was debatably the best decision we made in Spain.
As you can tell, we really had to fight for a good seat. We practically sprinted to the top deck to get a spot on the front row, (if I was going to do something so cliche and touristy, I was sure as hell going to have the best seat in the house ) only to find two French girls who didn t really see the competition involved in picking seats. The other tourists, who claimed seats on the heated first level, were probably ridiculing the agressive Americans who didn t check the forecast because as soon as the bus rolled out, a storm rolled in.
It was freezing and we were being pelted by rain, so the French cheap carrental orlando florida girls said au revior and joined the others on the first level. I knew they wouldn t last in such conditions, cheap carrental orlando florida but I didn t expect my wingwoman to say goodbye so soon. A bit persnickety with my photography, I wasn t about to try to take pictures through a bus window stained with raindrops and fingerprints, so I stayed up top and rode out the storm all by my lonesome.
Luckily, I wasn t alone for long Nicole quickly found her way back to the top deck after an 80-year-old man began blatantly taking pictures of her with his hot pink camera. Once again, things were going well in Toledo.
Fortunately, the city is still astonishing, rain or shine. It has a mixture cheap carrental orlando florida of Arab, Jewish, Christian, and Roman elements that make it truly unparalleled. The Tagus river paints a border around three sides of the city, leaving the alluring ex-capital of Spain rather isolated atop a hill.
I wouldn t call Toledo a must-see destination necessarily. It s a great place and good for a day tri
Taking an escalator into a city center may be one of the more unique ways to make an entrance. Located at the top of a steep hill just 70 kilometers south of Madrid, Toledo makes for an easy day trip. It’s well connected to Madrid via a 45 minute bus ride at a cost of 10€ or a 30 minute train ride at 20€ round-trip. If you enter the historic center from Puerta de Alfonso VI, there’s an escalator that allows the steep walk to be avoided. Unfortunately for us, we missed it entirely (tip: when walking from the bus station in Toledo circle to the right when facing the city, not left) but at least we got a bit of uphill cardio upon arriving in the historical district.
This is one of those cities that you hear about long before you ever make the time to actually visit. underground tour of seattle It was once the capital of Spain until the 16th century when this status was moved to its current city of Madrid . Toledo is a perfect underground tour of seattle representation of the many religions that have influenced Spanish history among the years of power shifting between cultures. In it’s height, the city maintained a relatively amicable cohabitation of Catholics, Jews, and Muslims. Though this was short lived when the reconquest of Spain turned on the Jews and Muslims. Today the remaining mosques, synagogues, and cathedrals echo what was once a diverse multi-religious, thriving capital.
Though many of these religious sights are open to tourists, we avoided overwhelming our day by checking them all out and instead opted to enter only the Alcazar. Inside it’s been turned into a military museum including general Spanish history as well. Our guidebook had warned us that this museum is so in-depth that our feet would “be begging for mercy”. However, underground tour of seattle it failed to mention that our brains would crap out long before our feet would. It was more than we could mentally handle in one visit, but for 5€ we saw our value’s worth. Audio guides in English were available for an extra fee though we opted to try our skills with a Spanish level test by going full language immersion. The Alcazar isn’t visually impressive exteriorly as some others are around Spain. In fact, its plain, squared architecture is relatively unimpressive. The museum, though, makes up for that.
And the perfect way to recuperate from an exhaustive museum visit? Wine and tapas of course! Just outside the Alcazar we saw a relatively quiet patio with seemingly excellent tapas being served up. For 2€ glasses of wine, the tapas came with the drinks. This isn t uncommon in Spain of course. However, the tapas can be hit or miss when they’re underground tour of seattle free. At Enebro underground tour of seattle , a place we later discovered was also recommended in our guidebook, the tapas are a direct hit. Fantastic!
Then we strolled through the Jewish quarter, ate Toledo’s mazapan treat (an almond based sweet), and gawked at all the groups of tourists taking ridiculous amounts of photos as we tried to take ridiculous amounts underground tour of seattle of photos that didn t include the tourists taking the same ridiculous ones. Follow that?
Not as much as I thought I would. It isn’t jaw-dropping amazing. In fact, as far as day trips from Madrid underground tour of seattle go, I much prefer the quaint charm of Segovia . However, underground tour of seattle once we reached the Puente de San Matrín on the other side of the city from where we entered, I really started to feel the draw. The river hugs the city’s edge and houses are sprinkled along the hills opposite the river. Enjoying that view was my favorite part of the day except for the second time that we stopped for more wine and tapas before reaching underground tour of seattle the bridge. Oops! Mmm!
Planning a trip to Spain and only have 4 days in Madrid. Also planning a week in Andalucia (Granada, underground tour of seattle Cordoba Sevilla). Would you say that Toledo is a must-see considering all the other places we ll already be visiting?
I wouldn t call Toledo a must-see destination necessarily. It s a great place and good for a day trip, but I don t think you would be feel like you missed too much if you skipped it. Actually, for day trips from Madrid, we actually prefer Segovia a bit more than Toledo, though I would say Toledo is more popular. Granada is probably one of my favorite places in Spain. underground tour of seattle Cordoba and Sevilla are nice as well but if you decide to spend more time somewhere it should probably be Granada.

Ed. Note: Maryann Woods Murphy is a Spanish teacher and a Washington Teaching Ambassador Fellow on loan from her school in Allendale, NJ. This former New Jersey State Teacher of the Year and 33-year teaching veteran travelled with Secretary Duncan s bus tour to meet with teachers and teachers unions. Here she shares her first-hand experience with a visit to the AFT Union Hall in Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday, where the Secretary viewed a demonstration of Toledo s innovative program to mentor and evaluate teachers.
“Welcome to the home of peer review,” says Francine Lawrence, Vice President of the American cruise hawaii Federation of Teachers and the former president of the Toledo Federation of Teachers. “We are so proud to recognize what we have done together.”
The room at Union Hall, Toledo, is packed. Teachers, educational leaders and community cruise hawaii members are here to share “The Toledo Plan” with the Secretary of Education on his bus tour. There is excitement in the air.
“The Toledo Plan” is a peer review process that uses master cruise hawaii teachers to guide and support the professional development of a newly hired probationary teacher or a non-probationary teacher who needs assistance.
Dal Lawrence, former President of the Toledo Federation cruise hawaii of Teachers, was a key player in the creation of the plan 31 years ago. He says that it s about seeing cruise hawaii which teachers can “fly on their own” after they get expert mentoring.
Tonight we are watching how the panel reviews the work of two probationary teachers. Each intern teacher has been assigned a trained, consulting teacher cruise hawaii who has worked with the intern cruise hawaii extensively throughout the year. Now it s time for that consulting cruise hawaii teacher to present a case for the retention or release of their mentee to the panel.
One of the teachers that the consultant presents, shows great organization, an ability to connect with students, expertise in the design of learning activities, clear expectations and terrific routines. This intern seems to be a capable and caring educator and this is what the consulting teacher recommends to the panel.
But the panel needs to probe and clarify any doubts, asking the consultant for evidence of the intern s positive performance. Finally, the panel decides to affirm the consultant s recommendation. This teacher will be offered a non-probationary contract for the following school year.
The next probationary teacher presenting to the panel really struggles. Though she is well meaning, her directions are unclear to kids. In her kindergarten class, students are distracted, doodling on themselves with markers, standing up at will and tossing paper cups. Despite cruise hawaii the fact that the consulting teacher has offered many helpful suggestions cruise hawaii and strategies, the intern cannot get her teaching together. cruise hawaii The year has gotten progressively worse, and students cruise hawaii are just not learning.
After the mock peer review process concludes, Arne takes the microphone: “I have followed this model very closely for years,” he says, “I am always looking for models that the country should be looking at.” He goes on to say that he d like to see more “tough minded collaborations” and “more districts working together in a thoughtful and collaborative way.”
The positive climate I see tonight and the long history and success of the peer review process show that working together for the good of students is possible. cruise hawaii In fact, it s been happening cruise hawaii in Toledo for a very long time.
PAR is a terrific model of how unions can help teaching become a self regulating profession. Thank you for highlighting the original, and for explaining it with such clarity. This will be very helpful to me in explaining the tools of progressive unionism to other leaders in my state.

Despite finding much better pricing through other rental agencies, we decided to go with Alamo since the were a well-known company that we had rented from for 20 years. BIG MISTAKE. What a disaster on so many levels. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM IN COSTA RICA!
(1) They were dishonest about coverage options, (2) They sent us on our way in a an unsafe vehicle vacation packages to new orleans (the braking system completely failed), and (3) overcharged my credit card at the conclusion of the rental.
Before our trip to Costa Rica, I thoroughly researched insurance/coverage options and requirements in Costa Rica. Property Liability Insurance (PLI) was mandatory, and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) was an optional upgrade, and if purchased, it included the PLI. I printed the policies from the Alamo reservation and called Alamo's international travel service center who confirmed that if CDW was purchased, it included PLI. I brought the printouts with me to Costa Rica just in case. Sure enough, when it came time to rent the car, the agent did a hard-sell on the CDW... vacation packages to new orleans I was ready to buy it since it was only a small amount more. But then the agent tried to tell me that if you purchase vacation packages to new orleans CDW, you also have to buy PLI. I knew this was not true, and I had printed copies from my reservation vacation packages to new orleans with Alamo which stated that CDW did, in fact, include the PLI. He continued to argue with me and tried to talk in circles, but I knew better and ultimately did not buy the CDW (I was covered with my credit card)... vacation packages to new orleans a less informed vacation packages to new orleans traveler would have been bullied into an additional $200 in charges for no reason.
Then, when it came time for Alamo to bring us our vehicle, we could see the agent circling the lot trying to find our 7-seater SUV. Clearly they did not have the car. After about 10 minutes, he returned from the back of the building with the vehicle. We inspected the car and pointed out that there was not much tread on the tires but knew that a reputable company like Alamo would not send us off in an unsafe car. So we set off on our 3-hour journey from San Jose to Quepos in pouring rain. About an hour into our journey we noticed that the brakes made a continual scraping sound whenever the car was in motion. The brakes worked fine though, so we continued on. We used the car without incident for several days, until the time when we were driving down a mountain, in a downpour with our 3 children vacation packages to new orleans in the car. The car started beeping as we approached town and as I tried to brake, the braking system COMPLETELY FAILED. Somehow, I was able to glide through a busy intersection with no brakes and no wrecks. I ultimately had to use the emergency brake to stop the car and avoid a collision. Luckily there was an Alamo in Quepos and they drove us back to our accommodations while they assessed the car. In the meantime, we lost 4 hours of our car rental use. The Alamo in Quepos was staffed by nice people, but they didn't seem overly concerned about what had happened. Ultimately they brought us a new vehicle for the remainder of our rental period. During the remainder vacation packages to new orleans of our stay, we passed vacation packages to new orleans their lot several times and saw that the original car we had rented vacation packages to new orleans was red-flagged on their lot! We are pretty certain that the staff in San Jose did not have the car we reserved and so gave us one from their repair shop.
At the conclusion of our trip, we returned the car to Alamo and let them know what had happened. The agent was apologetic and revised our bill with a $40 credit for our trouble. But when I returned to the US and reviewed my credit card statement, they charged my card $20 MORE than the invoice and credit slip I had signed. Luckily Capitol One dealt with the overcharge and issued me the credit.
I do plan on returning to Costa Rica next year and learned a very good lesson... just because a company has a good reputation and a history of good business ethics in the US, does not assure the same outside of the US.
Coogles916, we're listening and would like to address your billing vacation packages to new orleans concerns and overall experience with you directly. vacation packages to new orleans Please email care@Alamo.com with your contact information, any rental agreement or reservation numbers, the exact rental location, and the details of your rental so we can look into this further.
