They re similar in that you have to go out and try to surf your best against other really talented surfers, but they re so different it s hard to explain. Shortboarding is a bit more aggressive in the way that you surf and also the vibe of the competition. Longboarding is more of a fun vibe, everyone is having fun and the surfing is more relaxed.

Few figures have had as great of an influence on the sport of soccer in New York as Clive Toye. The first General Manager of the New York Cosmos, Toye was responsible for building the club from scratch, coming up with the name Cosmos and, through his persistent sports event tickets efforts, including the signing of Pel in 1975, helped make the club a global phenomenon.

I have been looking for an opportunity to write about the Dutch duo Elitechnique for quite some time now. They were one of the first nu-disco groups that I heard back in 2007, as I was getting ready to move to a new city.

One of the tracks that I regularly listened to was Jupiter Black s   We Like Moroder, which Elitechnique had made a fantastic remix of. I also soon bought Elitechnique s Finger Food EP which became the soundtrack of my tram trips across the city, peak-hour platform changes, and afternoon walks around the industrial part of town, where I was living.
It s a few years on, and I am still interested in their music and have spent a bit of time reading up on them, chasing some of their side projects, and discovering why their dance music has that extra dimension cumberland hotel london to it.
In real life, Remco De Jong and Florentijn Boddendjik compose music and design soundscapes for Dutch theatre groups like the national Toneelgroep Amsterdam cumberland hotel london (a good example of their work here ) and Theater Artemis . The man behind cumberland hotel london Electrick cumberland hotel london Dragon, cumberland hotel london Rick van Breugel (also known as Ricky Da Dragon) is a well-known DJ and music producer in Holland who started DJing at age 12, and who witnessed the impact of disco, early eighties cumberland hotel london funk and new wave in Europe. He has a strong interest in house and soul music, cumberland hotel london and has recorded his own music over the last few decades under a number cumberland hotel london of aliases, among them, remix work with Maurits Paardekoper as the duo Exposure in the early nineties. His long list of credits also includes updating the anthem of  his local soccer club via some remix work.
In recent cumberland hotel london years, van Breugel noticed that some of his younger friends in the Rotterdam dance scene like David Vunk and Seutek were beginning to collect italo disco records which inspired cumberland hotel london him to start-up Electrick Dragon and make music drawing on the sound of this era. It would soon turn out that David Vunk would be the first to release his Electrick Dragon music after launching Moustache Records in 2007.
From a technical point of view, Electrick Dragon is relying only on the Digital Audio Workstation REASON to create his tracks, with no external analogue synths, or outboard gear, like many of the other italo artists; but with a wealth of experience, van Bruegel is easily able to innovate on the italo disco sound, cumberland hotel london creating bouncy,  highly addictive, dance floor friendly music.
This time it is the English label Cyber Dance to release his second major EP (Cyber Dance is the recording arm of Magic Waves , a radio show broadcast on the inimitable Intergalactic FM ). Space Connection features the great Night With You which is already up on youtube with a couple of clips created for it (the anime one above, and a NSFW version). This is music designed to be heard through a PA at nightclubs, and would appeal to anyone listening, not just lovers of italo.

Moscow s Cosmos Hotel is a formidable structure and a startling venue. The huge, curving hi-rise is a classic of 1970s Soviet architecture and would not look out of place on the set of a Bond movie all concrete, metal and polished wood, surrounded by trodden snow and patrolled by men in long coats. Inside the curves continue with long wood-panelled corridors, which are inhabited exclusively track commercial airline flights by grim-faced maids. The open foyer and gift shop are all faux-space race credentials (Neon sign reading: "Welcome, Yuri Gagarin Bar!") and Vegas-like slot machines. There is a sizeable gold-plated track commercial airline flights mace with matching dagger in the gift-shop.
Stepping out of the Cosmos heavy glass doors you re greeted with the domed rooftops of the national exhibition centre, track commercial airline flights and a giant constructivist sculpture of a rocket heading for the skies . Miles beyond that, there s a vast, brutalist television tower, track commercial airline flights which would not look out of place in City 17. Suddenly Half-Life 2 s Citadel has a real-world cousin, track commercial airline flights and Russia seems to live up to its legends. This evocative locale is the location for KRI, Russia s own game developer conference . Most of the games being developed in the former USSR, and the surrounding track commercial airline flights countries, are being shown here. There could be no better venue.
In many ways it s a typical games show, with peculiarly-clad ladies (some dressed in silken air-hostess uniforms, others draped in little more than paint) dispensing fliers and mild embarrassment on the show floor. The show is, I suppose, a kind of validation of the size and scale of the Russian games industry as it exists today. There are technology stands, and some game stands, but overall a wealth of companies of all sizes, both global and local. While there are dozens of smaller companies now operating in Russia is is 1c that dominates track commercial airline flights completely in the publishing arena. Many companies want to have their say on the future direction of the Russian games industry, but the towering yellow wealth of the 1c stand suggests who might really be holding most of the cards.
I wandered around and got to play a few games. Death Track was ludicrous: a kind of brutal rally version track commercial airline flights of Wipeout, with post-apocalyptic European capital cities and battle-cars decked out with fiery lasers. I sat down to play for several laps, and get flashbacks to the end of the Nineties, when futuristic racers turned up on the shelves track commercial airline flights every few weeks. I watched the EU exploding in some kind of hybridised version of World Rally Car and Gears Of War. The producer, an elegant young woman from Voronezh, explained to me that gamers like to get feedback from their acts of digital violence. I nodded.
Later, in one of the Cosmos darkly panelled hotel rooms, I was to be demoed the ultra-realistic Men Of War, by the ruin-faced lead producer. A special exhibition of some of those pictures, showing the future superstar right before she became a household name, are going on display in New York City hotels later this month, according to ELLE magazine.
