Madonna is one of the world s most-photographed stars, so maybe it s not surprising that there are still some previously unseen photos of her. A special exhibition of some of those pictures, showing the future superstar right before she became a household name, are going on display in New York City hotels later this month, according to ELLE magazine.
Photographer Richard Corman shot 24-year-old Madonna park plaza hotel austin in May of 1983 on New York s Lower East Side, less than a year before she made her national TV debut on Dick Clark s American Bandstand , where she famously declared that she wanted to rule the world. The photos show Madonna posing wearing her signature funky 80s street style, with a bandana in her hair, lots of bracelets, ripped jeans and red lipstick.
The exhibit is called MADONNA: A Transformational Exhibition , and it ll go on display starting this Friday at New York s W Times Square, with select photos also on display at three additional New York City W hotels, and the W in Hoboken, New Jersey. The exhibit runs through May 12; tickets for the opening night can be purchased at WHotelsNewYork.com .

Remembering the shoot, Corman tells ELLE , She leaned on her staircase and greeted me from her walk-up [apartment]. I saw those cat eyes, and I just knew. There are a few people park plaza hotel austin that have that fierce sense of confidence that she portrayed.
