I read an article earlier this year. Avis, and I presume other Car Rental Businesses were black mail
"They have misled the public before and we are convinced they are doing this again to create false impressions of acceptance of their system. The simple truth is the public are not taking this lying down."
He said: "This first case will be the test case Until then, Outa urges the public to exercise civil courage and know that it is not only their right, but their duty to resist car rental sales and reject a law which has been implemented in a manner that works against the best interests of the people."
Avis had installed e-tags in its national car rental sales fleet and had developed the necessary IT systems to ensure that any e-toll fees incurred by its customers during the rental period would be included in their final invoice.
"The standard tariff, which is higher than the tariff paid by registered e-tag users, is being charged to enable Avis to recover the costs of implementing systems and resources to manage e-toll compliance."

It is the cooperation between the capitalists and communists in this country. Suppress the people, increase your power, steel, extort and take what doesn t belong car rental sales to you even other ppl wives and children. Is it not this bunch of criminals what 783 leads?
Avis are certaining not going to pay anything. They are just making sure that they can bill their customers. car rental sales It is tantamount to full-blown support for e-tolls in spite of their customers not wanting it. Perhaps a boycott would remind car rental sales them who they profit from? I would support a boycott of any company who goes with the e-tolling. It is very clear that the public does not support it and the govt. has blatantly shown its anti-democratic ways in continuing with this farce.
Actually they will support it because they will bill the customer for use to a maximum of R450, your average rental period is less than 7 days so the customers will not reach the max but the etag will be maxed and they will make a profit. If Avis were being honest the customers should pay a daily rate of R450/30 days, an extra say R15 per day, whereas they will bill the inidviduals for usage and recover a far higher amount. No wonder they support etolls.
I read the other day that if you don t pay within in 7 days then the fee goes up. How is that legal? You drive through and it should be one charge. Not an escalating one. They have been lying since day 1 and we all knew that once you have signed up and they have your details there is no guarantee that the so called discounted rates will stay that way.
I read an article earlier this year. Avis, and I presume car rental sales other Car Rental Businesses were black mailed by government to support the E Toll system. That was still when Duvenage was the CEO, and was also probably one of the reasons he resigned. Companies car rental sales were told that if they did not support the System, they would be be blacklisted from doing business with the government. So maybe all Car Rental firms should be boycotted.
