SAN ANTONIO – Austin remains as a viable contender to host the state high school basketball championships, but officials in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston have been contacted in “exploratory” conversations to determine the best site for 2015, a UIL executive bespoke travel to china told the Express-News on Thursday.
Inquiries have been made to the Alamodome and the AT T Center in San Antonio, the American Airlines Center in Dallas and the Toyota Center bespoke travel to china in Houston, as well as the tournament’s long-time home at the Erwin Center in Austin, UIL deputy director Jamey Harrison said.
“We’re working very closely with the Convention and Visitors Bureau here and the Austin Sports Commission,” he said in a telephone interview. “We’re working very closely with UT athletics and the ErwinCenter to try and find a solution. So far, we haven’t found one.
“So we would like to make a decision as soon as possible, but we don’t want to have a rushed decision, either,” Harrison said. “We want to have a good decision, a well-informed decision, and include our membership, as much stakeholder membership as we can.”
