"We're confident the Porsche Panamera will provide a unique driving experience for customers who are passionate about high-end performance vehicles," Hertz chairman and CEO Mark P. Frissora said in a statement.
Question, when can I rent a 911 Carrera? Not even looking for anything crazy like a GT3 or a GT2 or a turbo, just a non-turbo hardtop would be fine. It would be nice to drive a Porsche 911 once in my life.
Oh, I know there are companies out there that rent 911's, and they even have them in parts of the country other than LA, Miami, and Las Vegas. I am just expressing my opinion that it's really no big deal that Hertz is renting Panamera's. They are nice cars, but they just aren't special like the classic 911 is. #2.1 - Thu Jul 12, 2012 7:17 PM EDT John Smith-332906
I think the Panamera would be amazing to drive. Its obviously not a 911, so don't go expecting something like that. What it looks to be is an amazingly comfortable and roomy machine that annhilates space and time. Top speed 174MPh and engineered to sustain such speeds safely for hours. Make me want to zip from Munich to Hamburg for a light lunch and some shopping. #5 - Thu Jul 12, 2012 10:21 PM EDT LogicRules-01
@Patrook Goreng - sustain 174 MPH safely for hours? Where and when do you propose vacation rentals in la jolla shores california doing that? Or is that what you expect to be able to do after you annihilate space and time, at which point where and when will obviously cease to exist? 1 vote #5.1 - Thu Jul 12, 2012 10:41 PM EDT Patrook Goreng
Well 174 is the top speed, so I imagine you could kick the cruise-control in at around 155 and be okay. That will still be pretty good time on the autobahn. Its a place in Germany, Logic, and you can drive really really fast there because they made it that way. Also the ratio of good drivers to idiots is different than in the USA.
I had a great trip across Montana in my VW Corrado a few years ago, when the speed limit was "Reasonable Prudent". I was pulled over doing 105 on I-90, and the nice trooper told me that it wasn't prudent to travel at that speed with evening approaching soon, and let me go with a warning. God Bless America ! Anyway I was able to sustain a very healthy average speed for hours without ceasing to exist. 4 votes #5.2 - Thu Jul 12, 2012 11:00 PM EDT Raj Sani
You realize several parts of the Autobahn have speed limits? It's practically a US Highway the no speed limit thing is a myth. Certain parts you can go over 100 mph on but you will get pulled over and get a lecture at the least. You definitely aren't gonna be cruise controlling at 155 mph anywhere other than a Nascar track. #5.3 - Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:53 PM EDT LogicRules-01
@Patrook Goreng - well, having grown up in Europe vacation rentals in la jolla shores california I'm not entirely unfamiliar with German autobahns, and I fear you'd be extremely hard pressed to find anyplace in Germany where you could safely sustain even 155 MPH for hours. It so happens that Germany is just slightly smaller than Montana but has over 80 times the population, so even ignoring the fact that you won't find a 300+ mile stretch of autobahn with no speed restrictions, you won't be able to replicate your experience blazing down a mostly empty Montana freeway for hours in Germany. I will grant that lane discipline in Germany is much better, and much more strictly enforced, than in most places in the U.S. 2 votes #6 - Fri Jul 13, 2012 1:30 AM EDT KDFman
My last trip to Germany I travelled the whole of Western vacation rentals in la jolla shores california Germany. I rented a VW Jetta wagon which cruised vacation rentals in la jolla shores california comfortably at 120 mph and I was often passed by cars that made me feel like I was going very slow in comparison. But you are right these areas were broken vacation rentals in la jolla shores california up often by areas with speed restrictions, vacation rentals in la jolla shores california still it was very nice driving in a place where people understood how to keep right except to pass. 1 vote #6.1 - Fri Jul 13, 2012 9:19 AM EDT Patrook Goreng
My point was merely to admire the engineering on the Panamera. The car can sustain a very high rate of speed for hours and its designed to be a high-speed transportation solution where applicable. Europeans get it, but I think Americans want thier Porsches to be sexy looking sports cars - not efficient personal bullet-trains, effectiveness notwithstanding. 1 vote #6.2 - Fri Jul 13, 2012 11:37 AM EDT manifestdestinypart2
What is it about some people that they want so much to be noticed? I crack up when I see some guys and gals riding around in their flashy cars that scream "look at me" "Look at Me". No, really "Look at me"... I am special. Nothing like a good healthy ego. #7 - Fri Jul 13, 2012 1:32 AM EDT Chris-587843
Good idea for Hertz, I can see a lot of people using it for Weddings. #10 - Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:57 PM EDT Leave a Comment: Name: Email Address (will be verified, but never shown) : You're in Easy Mode.
