Holding an Indian passport can be frustrating sometimes as most of the countries require a Visa to be applied beforehand. Moreover the visa application process is complex requiring lot of documents to be submitted.

1. Yes, you should have the documents for hotel booking with you. . If your friend has done bookings, ask him/her to send you the booking receipts. Also if bookings are not in your name and your friend not traveling with you, may be a letter from him stating that you will be staying with him would be helpful.
