I bought a new 2008 Miata with automatic transmission. (1000 miles so far) When in cruise control last Sunday, the car shifted from 6th to 5th gear and back lot. I was going about 60 on a flat road with some head winds. Is this normal? I was in automatic mode and not in manual paddle shift.
Depending on the speed I'm traveling and the road incline/decline, miami south beach hotels I find my NC's cruise control occasionally searches for the best gear. I haven't used cruise miami south beach hotels much since moving to Florida, though--haven't taken any long highways trips here yet.

That's normal when running in a Head wind or when going up a hill. When the car calls for more power it shifts down to the next gear. That's the beauty of the 6AT transmission. ALSO, you might notice when in manual mode it will do the same thing sometimes, if I remember correctly, when you hit the gas pedal all the way down and your in 6th gear, it will shift down to 5th.
