Bingo. For my honeymoon in 2007 my wife went to Australia and New Zealand for 2 weeks. We wanted to
I drive by a travel agent office every day and can't help but wonder how they stay in business. In this day and age, do people really still have travel agents? What do they do, exactly? Can they get you better deals than what you'd find online.
I think, Lisa, that you've been taken in by an obvious forgery. Unfortunately, historical research is plagued by this sort of hoax -- the so-called confession. It's just as fake as the Howard Hughes will, the Hitler Diaries, or the Emancipation Retraction.
I used a travel agency in Japan to go to Guam, Hong Kong Macao. But that was only because I wasn't sure of what internet services to use to get the best deal. Perhaps mostly foreign people use them here too?
I think for international travel, they can still be handy for people who don't want to do the legwork. It can be a real hassle booking everything on your own. I still do it on my own, but if money was no object I would consider an agent.
I have a sister-in-law who was one for years. While it's true that many people don't use them anymore, there is still a market for them among the carriage trade and for specialized itineraries such as cruises or extended tours.
My parents do because it helps them stay organized for large groups of old people for cruises. A travel agency near my home seems to be doing well, thought hey promote the heck out of Disney Vacations/Cruises.

Bingo. For my honeymoon in 2007 my wife went to Australia and New Zealand for 2 weeks. We wanted to see most of both countries. It involved 7 different plane flights, 7 different hotel stays a rental online home virtual tour car and all sorts of activities in there, including seeing the Great Barrier Reef, Milford Sound, Arthur's Pass, the Taronga Zoo, among many other things. Could I have done that myself? Absolutely? Would I have wanted to do it before my wedding? Absolutely not.
John Henson: McDonald's has dumped Kobe Bryant as their spokesperson and have replaced him with Yao Ming. Apparently McDonald's online home virtual tour prefers Yao because he is a bigger international star, and he doesn't rape so much.
Rich people do too. I'm acquainted with a travel agent and at first I had no idea how she stayed in business. Meanwhile she's very successful because all her clients are the incredibly rich that would rather pay up the ass for commission online home virtual tour fees than go on Expedia and book and flight and hotel.
I use a TA for cruises ... I could book them myself, but I get the same price plus perks (kickbacks off of the commission) for going through a TA. I'll also use a TA to go to Disney, especially if I can get discounted rates (AAA, etc).

The Disney TA's keep up to date on all the coupon codes, promotional packages and sometimes have exclusive deals. They'll also help you out with dining reservations, show tickets, special events, birthday cakes, etc. And they get paid by Disney, so it doesn't cost anything.
Usually we stay at Shades online home virtual tour Of Green (the Military hotel), so a travel agent isn't much help. But 2 years ago we used a Disney TA, and she got us an excellent rate at Beach Club that was a couple hundred less than I was able to find on my own.
ok i see how it is i m the new guy so everyone just pinching my ballsack you know what i dont care you all are just jerks anyway im trying to be nice here but then some stupid rob the lob comes in and start saying stuff - Stynieke
I've never used a Travel Agent directly, but for a major trip (out of the country) I would definitely use one. The biggest advantage of using a travel agent is that if anything goes wrong or you have an issue with any of the vendors, the Travel Agent will deal with them and they have a lot more pull than an individual consumer. They can also accommodate late changes online home virtual tour due to disasters, severe weather, etc.

I used one for my honeymoon last year. I had never traveled online home virtual tour out of the country, and wasn't sure what all was needed, so I thought it best. They didn't charge me anything, the costs weren't any different than what I looked up online before going in, but they didn't online home virtual tour do anything I couldn't. It's unlikely I'll use one in the future.
Yeah, don't businesses still use TAs? My ex worked out of the home and flew 4 days a week for work. As soon as she knew her schedule for the next week, she'd call the TA and say "Memphis on Monday, New Orleans on Tuesday, Houston on Wednesday, Dallas on Thursday" online home virtual tour and that was it. They'd email her itinerary about a half hour later. Plus the TA kept track of her seat preferences, SkyMiles number, preferred flight times, etc. so it was almost online home virtual tour automatic. They also did her hotels, and knew which brands she preferred and in which order (for the all-important rewards points), as well as which ones were closest to the hospitals she was visiting. I can't imagine having to do that crap manually every single week
Plus, her work TA saved our ass one time. We were on a flight from Atlanta online home virtual tour to Ft. Lauderdale when the plane was hit by lightning. online home virtual tour We had to make an emergency landing and all that in Jacksonville. As soon as we were off the plane she whipped out her cell, called the TA and said "three seats from JAX to FLL, right now, any airline". The TA got us seats in like 2 minutes for a flight that was leaving in 10 minutes. Many of the poor schlubs who waited for a Delta gate agent to hand-hold them through getting a new flight got stuck there overnight.
I did for my first euro trip. She got reservations for us during fashion week in Paris at several hard to get restaurants, etc...my next two trips? Nah. And my last one I did myself involved planes into different airports, train, etc.
For the individual, it is like anything else. Some people like having them. Just like some like having online home virtual tour an insurance online home virtual tour agent, and others don't. Some like having a store front to buy a TV from, others just order Amazon.
