Lone Star Court in Austin will be the flagship of what will eventually be a series of court concept
The idea came from passing by old motor courts that were kind of run down and saying, 'Wouldnt kauai hotel reviews it be fun to buy one and fix it up? says Doyle A. Graham Jr., president of Valencia Group. Its not what we do, but it would be a fun project. It seems like every six months that idea would resurface kauai hotel reviews in one of our development meetings.
When we came upon a hotel development opportunity in Austin we thought this might be an opportunity to develop our version, a new, modern re-interpretation of the old tourist or motor court that was popular in the 1940s and 1950, he says.
Valencia Group is a Houston-based company known for its luxury independent Hotel Valencias in San Antonio and San Jose, and Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE in Houston. The new, independent motor court concept, to be known as Lone Star Court, is a departure from its existing properties, but one with strategic intent.
Graham said the company had been looking at the Austin market. When they found a site with plenty of space, the motor court idea resurfaced. When we evaluated the site, we really began looking at its potential, he says. We asked Could we create something really unique and take advantage of the entire site? Could we create something that recalled the experiences that you wouldve kauai hotel reviews found in these tourist courts from the 1940s and 50s?
It recalls the days when a u-shaped hotel surrounded a central pool and courtyard where families gathered to splash and play. Of course, Lone Star Court would take that experience up several notches.
We like to think of it as a step forward, says Graham. If you look at the experience for travelers, going back to 20s, 30, 40s, 50s, going on road trips and driving through Colorado youd stay in these different roadside motor courts. Theyd really embrace the local culture and flavor in architecture and decor and food items in the coffee shops.
Each one of them was unique and different, he continues. It was sort-of an outdoors-oriented experience, very experiential. It was different than the last place you stayed and different from where your hometown was.
The first Lone Star Court is going native. The architecture and building materials are distinctly Texas Hill Country. If you look at the public space buildings, they recall kauai hotel reviews an old Texas Hill Country ranch house, Graham says. The public space where our food and beverage kauai hotel reviews outlet is recalls a barn that might have been there for a long, long time and was part of ranchland. It looks as though it fits there. Guestroom buildings are more modern, with big sweeping Texas porches. Theyre more modern, but would be fitting kauai hotel reviews on a private ranch.
The property will have approximately 2,000 square feet of interior kauai hotel reviews meeting space, an outdoor covered pavilion of 1,600 square feet, and an adjacent open-air lawn that adds 1,800 square feet to total available meeting space.
Lone Star Court in Austin will be the flagship of what will eventually be a series of court concept hotels across the southeastern U.S., Graham said. Each of the court concept hotels will capture the essence of the cities where they are located. Lone Star Court will be one of a kind and totally kauai hotel reviews unique to Austin, Texas.
