Because they're C R A P!!! Any car that can't get me to work because the battery dies sitting in LA

It's the hurdle that electric vehicles must clear to be launched into the mainstream: range anxiety. But this time it isn't prospective customers who worry about running out of juice, Bloomberg reports , but renters who return to car rental agencies before their lease is up and trade their EVs in for more traditional gasoline-powered autos and gas-electric hybrids.
"People are very keen to try [electric vehicles], but they will switch out of the contract part way through ... they think they can't get to a charging station," says Lee Broughton, head of sustainability at Enterprise . Enterprise customers who rent EVs reportedly trade them in 1.6 days into the rental period on average, which compares unfavorably to the six- to seven-day rental periods of traditional, fuel-burning automobiles.
And if consumers want an EV with a range that exceeds 100 miles, they'll have to step up to a Tesla Model S , which can achieve a maximum of 300 miles but is in a much higher price category than vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf due to its exotic-luxury-car status. MPG Car Rental in Venice, CA, near the Los Angeles International Airport, rents Leafs for $99 per day, while Model Ss go for $500 per day.
I like this part of the story: Christopher chicago cubs tickets online Agnew, an analyst at MKM Holdings LLC, says that longer range would help rental chicago cubs tickets online customers' range anxiety, especially since they are usually renting vehicles in unfamiliar places. They actually needed an analyst to figure chicago cubs tickets online this out? I bet Christopher doesn't drive an EV either. Great for putzin around town in familiar digs but try a 1,000 mile trip; how long would it take with the recharging along the way? If you destination is way out in BFE, the odds are there is no charging station there. chicago cubs tickets online It's not like plugging an extension cord into a wall outlet.
Aside from finding charging stations, there is another chicago cubs tickets online inherent problem with EV's. You still need electrical power to charge them. Where does that power come from? We all know that power companies are not the cleanest chicago cubs tickets online environmental when creating the electricity for our homes, businesses, etc. I don't see how we get ahead. As for the hybrids, we rented one, a Nissan Altima, in California a couple of years ago. It had terrible gas mileage! I think we got around 15 mpg highway with it. I will stick with my gas powered cars, for now, until the technology and price are better.
And... this has something to do with renting a car, how? I'd be willing to bet that most people rent cars based on emotion, rather than need or deep analysis. Which is apparently also why there's a high return rate on their Leafs. They rent them on a quick uh, sure! and then, when they realize they can't quite make that 200 mile trip they wanted to take on the weekend, they return them. This is also kind of weird, since LA has a lot of DCQCs, and I'm pretty sure Carwings knows about all of them. Maybe a lot of people don't know they can ask the GPS for where the chargers are.
I said the SAME thing, when our then new, administration, promoted huge dollars into SOLAR factories that were going to hire all these jobless workers, to build, the new, clean, alternative fuel plants! BOGUS! A few well connected folk, made off with Billions of our taxpayer dollars, in a clean fashion that would make Al Capone, GREEN (sorry) with envy. Wanna build the next big thing? Absolutely certain you've got the next big idea to help the children...) Do it with your own money. Next.
... ... Um, okay, I'm *trying* to wrap my head around what you just said. .... ... Nope. I got nothing. chicago cubs tickets online Sorry, chicago cubs tickets online the extra money my Leaf puts on our electric bill is still 1/10th what we were paying in gas. It's about $25 a month in extra electricity, and gas was well over $200 a month, which we, ah, don't pay anymore.
DUHHH !!! Who wants to drive a glorified golf cart with the real possibility chicago cubs tickets online of being stranded on a crowded highway in the first traffic jam encountered???? All electric cars are in town run abouts and not suited for any type of REAL driving excursions...Even if there were charging stations on every corner, who wants to wait HOURS for a partial charge ?? All the lies perpetrated by a liberal media come to light when you rent one of these automotive disasters !!!
I don't know when the last time you drove a gas car was, but you know when that needle on the gas gauge gets close to E? That's when you fill up, right? chicago cubs tickets online Yeah, it kind of works that way with electrics too. They don't just magically go from half a charge to 0 in the blink of an eye at complete random, with no warning whatsoever. Also, this is LA, where there's 21 quick chargers (get a full charge in less than half an hour) in a 50 mile radius. So, so much for wait hours for a partial charge .
Because they're C R A P!!! Any car that can't get me to work because the battery dies sitting in LA traffic isn't worth a penny! What really irritates me about this whole electric chicago cubs tickets online car BS is that OUR taxes subsidized the manufactures, OUR taxes buy them for every government agency you can imagine, then they're left sitting in parking garages, and the talented rich and famous believe they have the right to tell us we're not doing enough to support their idiot causes by buying these over-priced, over-hyped short-sighted, chicago cubs tickets online PC pieces of garbage!
You can buy some of these Electric, Hybrid cars, from large city fleet services, all across the country! I have seen MANY Hybrids with less than 10,000 miles on them. Cities bought these things with State and local tax dollars, subsidized by some Federal incentives, finagled by a local Congressman. Problem chicago cubs tickets online was...No City employee wanted to drive these as their vehicle of choice. Too many issues, and..NOT dependable transportation! Why buy one new? (Unless you voted for Hopey/Changey, and have a cushy, government job.)
