With an ice cold winter almost behind midtown madness cars us, warm up this spring in Washington, DC by commemorating the National Cherry Blossom Centennial.  In 1912, Tokyo, Japan bestowed upon Washington, DC a beautiful gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees as a symbol of friendship. Each year the city honors the gift with a two week celebration of art, music, fine cuisine and colorful midtown madness cars parade. This year to mark the centennial, the festival will extend to five weeks of exciting of events that will unite the city.
Take part in the second annual Cherry Blossom Kite Festival. Kite makers from across the globe compete as kite makers and flier. Want to participate! Bring your own hand-made kite or children can make them at the activity station.
