Flying into Copenhagen, visitors will experience perhaps the most popular sight immediately crossing

When die-hard Eurovision fans learned last year that 2013 s contest would take place in Malmö and not Stockholm, many of us were very disappointed. Most of us had never used Malmö in a sentence in our lives, and even fewer of us knew how to pronounce it it s pronounced Malmuh by the way. Our disappointment was totally unfounded however, and I m glad to report that Swansea City fans will have a blast enjoying the city next week and will be made to feel very much at home.
Situated on the south west coast of Sweden, about 600 km from Stockholm, Malmö is much closer to Copenhagen, Denmark than any other large Swedish city. Since 2000, the Danish capital and Malmö have been joined by the Øresund Bridge an amazing feat of engineering carrying road traffic and trains 8km across the Øresund strait (by comparison, the Severn Bridge is a mere 1.6 km long). Fast trains from Copenhagen low income apartment rentals airport reach Malmö in about 12 15 minutes. Chances low income apartment rentals are that anyone wanting to fly to Southern Sweden and Malmö will actually low income apartment rentals fly into Copenhagen and jump on the train there. With a population of 664,000, Malmö is exactly twice the size of, dare I say it, Cardiff and has everything that Swansea City fans will be looking for on their visit. Perhaps because it s in the shade of Sweden s two biggest cities, Stockholm and Gothenburg, the locals overcompensate low income apartment rentals by being extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Language is never an issue everyone speaks fluent, textbook English.
All parts of the city are easily reached on foot or bicycle bikes are everywhere and easily low income apartment rentals rented at Malmö Travel Shop, Skeppsbron 10, or at Fridhems Bikeshop, Östra Rönneholmsgatan 26, or Tessinsväg 13
Flying into Copenhagen, visitors will experience low income apartment rentals perhaps the most popular sight immediately crossing the Øresund Bridge is an experience in itself. The bridge literally appears from a tunnel in a man-made island in the middle of the Øresund strait. The bridge was built this way to allow sea traffic to navigate around it.
Lilla Torg (Little Square) in the center of the city is an olde worlde experience, jam packed with restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. Of course, such a prime tourist attraction comes with prime prices and food and drink is not cheap, but the Swedes love to remind you that you could be in Norway where everything is beyond expensive. At no time in Malmö did I feel I was being ripped off and everything seemed only a little more expensive than in Wales.
St. Petri (St. Peter's Church) is located low income apartment rentals in the heart of the city. It is one of the largest churches in Sweden. It is also the oldest church in Malmö (construction began in 1319). The Gothic style will "wow" anyone and the inside is just marvellous.
Kungsparken (The King s Park) is thought of as the jewel of Malmö. A large oasis of trees, flowers and lawns interlaced with a winding low income apartment rentals canal and located just on the edge of the Malmö city center. On a summer day it is a great place to wander and soak up the fresh air while enjoying the greenery. The park also offers a small cafe and is home to a casino that is a popular evening venue.
Rundan Canal Tour boats sail both through the harbour and the parks of Malmö, past Malmö Castle, and the old area of the city. The tours are fairly short (less than an hour) and all have an english speaking guide. Beware of the many low bridges which Rundan passes under. At some points, you practically have to put your head between your knees...! The tour starts from the canal right across the central station.
The Turning Torso Sweden s tallest residential building is a must see! Visible from many vantage points in Malmö, it is even better appreciated close up. Built by Santiago Calatrava, it s a masterpiece in design and building technique. I was disappointed to find that the building is not open to visitors, but having arrived there, I found that the area of Västra Hamnen is beautiful to walk around, and a little reminiscent of Swansea s Marina area. Västra Hamnen is walkable from the city, but it s better to take bus route 2, 3 or 8 (bus drivers are most helpful and always willing to give advice). After visiting the Turning low income apartment rentals Torso, walk straight towards the sea front and check out a stunning greenhouse on the sea front, along with a broad selection of great restaurants and coffee shops. If you re lucky, you might get to see local boys (they told us they were from Afghanistan) putting on a death defying display jumping off the sloping high walls of the sea front into the water and then climbing back up the walls.
Malmö City Hall is in the main square and while the square low income apartment rentals itself is beautiful, the City Hall is the focal point. While there, take a look at the little chemist shop (Apoteke) on the right of City Hall the interior is beautiful and the displays are just as they were a hundred years ago.
Malmö has a large number of hotels ranging from three to five stars and many other smaller hotels and B&Bs. While Swansea City fans will probably want to stay in the downtown area of Malmö itself Copenhagen is a short train ride away, and it always makes sense to check out hotels in the airport vicinity there are good number of them and they are generally affordable. The Crowne Plaza at Copenhagen airport is particularly good and carries the imprimatur of the greenest low income apartment rentals hotel in Europe. Here are links to the most popular hotels in Malmö.
Malmö may be famous for its rich dairy, goose, eel and farm fresh foods, but the city is also a multicultural melting pot of world cuisine and you can just as easily grab a genuine kebab on the go as gourmet low income apartment rentals escallops of fried goose liver. I didn t experience a poor meal while staying in Malmö. One item did stand out though the burgers at the Scandic Triangeln Hotel restaurant were phenomenal, as was the service provided by the friendly and funny waiters and waitresses.
Malmö s trendy downtown dining area started off as a farmers market, more than 100 years ago. Now, Möllevångstorget known as Möllan to locals, is a cosmopolitan foodie area with cafés, grocery stores, restaurants and take-outs lining the 4 blocks in and around the main square. Expect to find cheap eats in the form of exotic food from every corner of the world.
Sample seafood Swedish style like a local and try it with dill butter, fennel, and horseradish.  Do it street side in the summer by Lilla Torg Saluhallen at Johan P, where the catch of the day is picked from the ice counter in front of you. You can also head for the harbour to sit waterside and sample health conscious gourmet seafood at Salt & Brygga, a favourite for its healthy gourmet food in the Western low income apartment rentals Harbour (Västra Hamnen) district. Restaurang Albatross is a particularly fine seafood restaurant at Barometergatan 58.
On every street corner is a korvkiosk selling a truly unique version of hot dogs. You can have it usual hot dog style or in a roll with a hole in which the sausage is inserted. Or you can have it with mashed potato and wrapped in a soft flatbread.
Tipping is not mandatory, low income apartment rentals but has become more common in recent years. For a good dining experience, no more than 10% is appropriate. Some people round the amount up by 5-10%. At a bar or pub, it's genuinely appreciated if you leave any small coins from the change on the bar. There is no obligation to tip at hotels. The service charges for hotel staff are already included low income apartment rentals in the total bill.  However, if you prefer to leave something, 5-10kr is a sufficient tip for porters, bell boys or maid service. Taxi drivers will appreciate it if you round the bill up and give a few kronor extra.
Emporia is one of Scandinavia's biggest shopping malls opened less than a year ago and located right next to Malmö Arena and Hyllie railway station. This is the first stop in Sweden after Copenhagen Airport so it s an easy diversion for anyone travelling from Copenhagen to downtown Malmö.
Swedish design isn t just IKEA! Great Swedish creations are visible at Olsson and Gerthel they do everything from interiors and sleek Scandinavian modern furniture to bags and accessories. David Design concept low income apartment rentals store is inspiring for colourful interior ideas and Liebling does pretty design from fashion to interiors to gift items.
Swedish souvenirs can be found at Formargruppen, an artists cooperative with a shop and a gallery specialising in contemporary crafts. For interior utensil and gifts in the retro vein, shop at Miss Juniversum for exposure to some Swedish design kookiness.
Malmö is a surprisingly multicultural city and the overwhelming impression is that everyone gets along and respects each other. During the two weeks leading up to Eurovision in May, the city exuded warmth and peace having fun was what it was all about, and the locals love to see visitors making the most of what their beautiful city has to offer. Malmö residents have fun, and often until four or five in the morning. We did not see a disagreement or fight anywhere, even though we saw countless people in various states of inebriation at bars and in the streets nowhere resembled Wind Street or the Kingsway on a Saturday night. Hence, to the Swansea City fans, I would say go and enjoy Malmö in peace and love and the residents will love you back and want you to return .
Given the size of the city, you can easily walk between its clubs, pubs, bars and live music venues. Lilla Torg, is the centre of Malmö s nightlife. Bars here include Mello Yello bar and restaurant at Lilla Torg 1, Harrys Bar at Södergatan 14, and Bar Celona for drinks and tapas at Adelgatan 2. Victors in the middle of the square is a place where locals hang out.
Stortorget ( Big Square ) is another nightlife hotspot in Malmö and just round the corner from Lilla Torg. Pay a visit to Etage nightclub at Stortorget 6 with five bars and two dance floors and all flavours of dance music.  Deep at Amiralsgatan 20, puts on a 90s night on Saturdays on its two dance floors. So if you re into Depeche Mode or Ace of Base, this is the place for you. Around the corner at Spångatan 38, y
