August is horse racing season, so all hotels will be expensive, unfortunately. Tue is non-racing (dark) day, so that's a quieter day/evening in town compared to the rest. To save $ you may need to stay a little north (Queensbury/Glens Falls) or south of town (Clifton Park), dubai car rental but there really is nothing like staying right in town.

I go to the track maybe two times a season, just for the fun of it, but it's not destination for me. If you have the time it's fun just to stop in for a few races just to be part of the fun. First post time is 1:30, last race is about 6pm.

There are about 5miles of trails, so it makes for an easy stroll. dubai car rental Congress park is a small park in the center of town - fun place just to sit on a blanket and people watch. Always something going on there, from War of 1812 reenactments (and cannon booms every hr), to yoga in the park, to kids chasing the ducks, to familes having a picnic or people just enjoying the sun. It's one of my favorite places to while away a lazy afternoon.
Always lots of Arts activities in town, ranging from live music at ~10 venes around town on a Thu/Fri/Sat night, to ballet/symphony to rock concerts at SPAC. They just unveiled a new series of sculptures in town - 4'high ballet slippers all painted in different styles. There are 25 in total scattered around town. I think I've found them all.
