We'll be at the HHV in July using our timeshare. No, we're not staying at the new Grand Waikikian bu

Besides the transformation of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.... and the rebuild of the "Boardwalk" on Lewers Street.... and the Duty Free fish tank gone.... and the Waikiki mgm grand hotel las vegas nv Theaters closed down.... and a couple of buildings empty.... it pretty much looked the same.
There's always a certain vibe in Waik's - maybe it's just because we were "playing tourist" mgm grand hotel las vegas nv or maybe it's because the weather was fantastic but nonetheless, it was actually fun to cruise around on foot. While we mainly mgm grand hotel las vegas nv stayed around the Kalakaua/Royal Hawaiian area, it certainly felt like we walked a mini-marathon!
You know wea dis is? If you can't remembah... it's wea the old metal statue of the fisherman throwing spear was at with the waterfall and hula stage. They really opened up da area and it looks much bettah.
From all da times I've walked in The International Marketplace, I've nevah noticed da "yellow mgm grand hotel las vegas nv brick road". It actually helps you find your way in, out and about so you don't get lost - how cool is dat!
We stopped by Burger mgm grand hotel las vegas nv On The Edge again using up the last of our gift certificates and it was ONO! Except, don't get da "Kick Ass Chili Fries"... not so 'kick ass' if you ask me. Stick with da truffle fries and you won't be disappointed. And now they even offer wheat bread! Yum.
So there it is. Waik's enjoyed like a couple of "kama'aina tourist" and I gotta admit it was fun! We got to do a bit of window shopping, people watching and just taking in the sights and sounds of otherwise anoddah part of Hawaii. If you get a chance, mgm grand hotel las vegas nv DO IT! You deserve to have a little fun and enjoy wat Hawaii has to offer.... unless you're a hermit or a killjoy.
Waikiki still has a really special place in my heart. Of course I used to cruise there as a kid...jump the wall, cruise around, jumpin in the hotel pools, mgm grand hotel las vegas nv etc. Later, as a yong adult, mgm grand hotel las vegas nv I loved the nightlife - lived on Liliuokalani a couple blocks from the beach...used to cruise in the Trans Am around mgm grand hotel las vegas nv and around Waikiki with the tunes cranked.
For New Years Eve, I got a room in Waikiki across the street mgm grand hotel las vegas nv from the Royal Haw'n Center - just to hang out in town for a couple days, spend time with my son, and just kinda see how things changed (or stayed the same). I HAD to do it - the trip wouldn't have been complete.
Yeah, some things are new like you said - Lewers Street, the renovated Royal Hawaiian, a few newer retail spots, etc. But overall, I was struck by how much the place has remained the same. I have to say, tho - the f*cking cigerettes in the water from the tourists pissed me off. Water's getting a bit more dirtier there. If I EVER see somebody littering the 'aina or thowing crap in my ocean, I'm goin' off. I'll open a major can of whoop ass on these ignorant people. Hate that sh*t...ooops, sorry - had to get the "protect our land" speech off my chest haha
btw, serious BL - you never knew there was the yellow path through the Intl Marketplace? As a keiki, I used to wander throu there and just follow mgm grand hotel las vegas nv the path (right to the shave ice stand). I thought the place seemed much bigger than it actually is, and it didn't smell as "coconutty" as I remember it being. Also, no more sugarcane slices for sale - THOSE were the bomb!
I dunno bout da oddah braddahs but I no like to go to Waikiki. Too much dumb peoples stay down dea. Dey cross da street mgm grand hotel las vegas nv against light and act pupule afta a few drinks la dat and pakin is so much kala. Wen I was yonga, we usto go movies in Waikiki and check out da young tourist mgm grand hotel las vegas nv chicks but now mo betta stay home. I only go dea, if i gotta go to a wedding or a patay la dat.
U no, I think das da same about people dat live nea one tourist place. My friend in SF nevah like go to Fishaman's Wharf wen I like go but she wen go wen I wen ask her nicely la dat. And my niece in Vegas, she no like go to da strip, downtown ok but no strip la dat.
MAYBE I can drag Da Wife to take an afternoon stroll down there one of these weekends. We could play tourists if just for a few hours and see what the tourists spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars for to experience.......and its right here in our back yard!
Parking in the garage behind what used to be the Waikiki Theaters was flat rate $7 Friday night. It still looks the same after all these years. mgm grand hotel las vegas nv Its a wonder I used to be able to get in and out of that place with my car back then in my inebriated state. I had to be careful this time around in my sober state.
Last time I was in Waikiki was my cousin's wedding last year Feb. Last time I went cruising around Waikiki was at least 3 years ago. Good fun, but NCH for too long - it's hot, some people are nuts, etc. But dere's some stuffs no can see/get anyplace else - certain entertainers (no, I don't mean the "business women" on Kuhio and Kalakaua) and certain food.
I have a fondness for Waiks as I used to work there for nearly 30years.(BL- did you work for the company with the blue/white logo w/da plenny choke stores. you mentioned store #54, I worked dat company too.)
yep, no need spend too much kala to enjoy waiks. afta da previous mayor wen spend choke on revitalizing waiks, it's actually much better now. go stroll down san souci promenade side, find one bench den watch da beautiful mgm grand hotel las vegas nv sunset. walk down kalakaua, might have hawaiian music on da mound by Duke's statue. mgm grand hotel las vegas nv evening time get street performers, actually get some good music to be heard.jus cruise around, goin get someting you like.
Even now as a visitor, I rarely venture into the heart of Waikiki. Many years ago, we decided to stay at the Mariott and we really had a good time. We walked around and check out the tourist things like you. The best was eating Melona bars on the lanai in the evening and listening to the live Hawaiian music at the pool. Hawaii is really special and it's easy to forget when you're living there. There's a certain special feeing I cannot mgm grand hotel las vegas nv describe. Now we always stay at the HHV on the outskirts of Waikiki...easy access out of the area and into Ala Mo and beyond. You'll find us hanging out in YOUR area (PC/Aiea) because of free beers and food at my brother's house!
Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish between locals and tourists (especially when some of the Japanee kine come to the islands with their pre-tan), did any of the Korean vendors down there try to talk Korean with you, thinking: "ah-ha a Seoul Brother"?

Yup, feelin' bettah... oddah than staring at da five foot stack of papers I had to go through. And try look again.... hopefully da pictahs work now.... if not get da link to da album but no captions.
The wife and I also like to spend some hotel time in Waikiki, though we have not yet done it this year. We were supposed to be hosting some relatives from Alabama in Waikiki this weekend, but they cancelled.
Hey, you came to my part of town BL! I lived there for 3 years and still go to Waikiki a few times a week when walking my dogs and on the weekends mgm grand hotel las vegas nv with the wife. I'll certainly miss it when I move. I like looking at old pictures mgm grand hotel las vegas nv of Waikiki and watching Blue Hawaii to get an even better mgm grand hotel las vegas nv sense of the place in the 50's and 60's. Now that would have been the time to live in Waikiki.
We'll be at the HHV in July using our timeshare. No, we're not staying at the new Grand Waikikian but the tower next door. The lagoon was completed over a year ago and I think the new pool for the timeshare towers (Lagoon mgm grand hotel las vegas nv Grand Waikikian) is done. If you like, come and visit us and you can use the new timeshare pool - if it's like the old pool, you need a key to get in. I haven't seen it yet so I can't tell you if it's any good.
The frog said, "Yes, I'm talking to you. Pick me up, then kiss me, and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. I'll make sure that all your friends mgm grand hotel las vegas nv are envious and jealous because I will be your wife!"
You and your bf will/should have a great time as long as da weather holds up. At da Moana too? Doesn't get much bettah than dat! Make surah you guys check out da night performers too though - I particularly like da Jamaican drummers.

We used to walk around Waiks after taking my daughter to the zoo, and when she got older, we used to go buy shells (!) from Duty Free. I go b/c the food in Waikiki is good, lots of choices. We haven't gone in a few years, though, so I want to check out the new Royal Hawaiian shops and restaurants.
mgm grand hotel las vegas nv we love staying in waikiki and playing tourist! we probably stay there at least once or twice a year and walk around down kalakaua. we usually stay in the beachwalk mgm grand hotel las vegas nv area - we really like the new area there (compared to how dark and dingy lewers was bef
