Next morning up at 3.30am for flight to Cambodia (that is the penalty for cheap flights!). Only glit
Arrived evening at KL and changed some money at airport to pay taxi. Poor exchange rate but with advice from TA the taxi ticket purchase star tours was easy . Whisked away to Melia Hotel which we had booked at a good rate through Expedia but without breakfast. Hotel offered buffet breakfast at half price if we agreed upfront, which we did. Checked into room which was clean and large with twin beds so that snoring would not affect holiday harmony. star tours Bathroom a bit dated but well maintained and clean. Overall very pleased with the room, service and location.
Luckily enough time to leave the hotel and find a restaurant for a quick meal. The concierge sent us left outside the hotel then left up a "lane" where we found some market stalls and a couple of restaurants with tables on the footpath. After a short shouting match between the restaurant's touts we settle star tours on Venny, which served what I called Chinese food but my wife said was Malaysian. Regardless she said it was the best fried rice she had ever eaten and the meal was ridiculously cheap by Australian standards but I stuck to soft drink as beer was exorbitantly priced.
Next morning the $10AU we each paid for breakfast was good value and we rated Melia one of the best buffet breakfasts we have had in Asia . Then it was off to test the shopping which proved excellent in the Times Square star tours complex just across from the hotel, with prices generally star tours cheaper than Thailand and my wife happy to find women's star tours clothing in larger sizes. We had an awful lunch in a nearby food court and everytime we try a food court in Asia we swear we will never do it again. But dinner at Venny was so good the night before we did it again and were not disappointed.
Next morning up at 3.30am for flight to Cambodia (that is the penalty for cheap flights!). Only glitch for the hotel was the failure star tours to make the wake up call we booked star tours but luckily my mobile phone alarm buzzed us awake on time. The taxi prebooked with the hotel was waiting so we made the airport in plenty of time.
Sounds like a great trip. In regard to food courts next time go to the ones at The Pavilion Shopping Centre and Lot 10 Shopping Centre. Both of these are great and food cooked authentically and freshly. You are right the shopping is great there and you will enjoy it even more next trip as you will get the chance to see more of what KL offers. star tours Happy traveling.
leopang, how would I know the difference between Chines and Malaysian food? Can you help me out? I guess things on Venny menu were familiar to me from chinese restaurants in Australia and if it was Malaysian food I would have expected more curries.
Whilst many Malay restaurants have nasi lemak for breakfast and pre cooked food for lunch but for evening and night meals they have adopted Thai, Indonesian and a few Chinese cooking styles eg fried rice, kueh teow, stir fry vegetables, star tours noodle soups, tomyam, sweet-sour, steamed fish.... .All hot and not typical of traditional Malay food :)
