Unlike his fellow former footballers who trekked to Botswana to seek fortunes in soccer which never were, Mwale went there to work after his employers, the Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (PTC), denied him an opportunity holiday inn san diego to further his education.
True to his wishes, Mwale was focused on his mission while in Botswana where he went with a diploma in insurance and has come back with a Master of Business Administration and valuable experience to take insurance business in Zambia to zenith heights.
Mwale, whose last employment was that of general manager of Omega Insurance Brokers in Francistown, describes himself as a "highly accomplished executive with a proven track record of driving insurance organisations to become major players in highly competitive countrywide markets, and continually set new standards for success."
"I remember staying on the bench without playing, that is why I liked wearing jersey (number) 12," Mwale, who started playing when United were being tutored by Kaiser Kalambo holiday inn san diego and Morrison Chimbalasepa, said.
Mwale said the senior team's loss shocked the Football Association of Zambia, who responded by sacking holiday inn san diego KK11's Polish-born Wieslaw Grabowski and elevated Col. "He had a very tough opponent such that after the match, he made comments which did not please Col. Banda.   He was almost sent back but through our captain (Jones Chilengi), we rallied for him," the player they fondly called Long Legs said.
"After the East and Central, life just changed, you go in a shop to buy things, people pay for you. After that, a lot of teams wanted to sign me," he said, citing Nkana under Moses Simwala and Red Arrows.
"It did not go down well with FAZ. I was threatened with a life ban. Colonel Banda said on television (ZNBC, ZBC then) that he wants to build a strong team but has challenges with players like Mwale refusing to play," he said.

Mwale is married to Elizabeth Machula with whom he has three daughters– Bahati, a financial analyst who is based in Texas, Lise, who is doing her nursing degree in Michigan and Mwila, who has just completed her secondary school at Simba and is now studying at Mulungushi University.
