Yellowknife is the capital of the Northwest Territories (NWT), located in Canada s sub-arctic region. While I was there in November, it marked the beginning of the extra cold winter season with temperatures ranging from -20 to -35 degrees Celsius.  Luckily, I wasn t there over Christmas when it got down to -40 that year.
Yellowknife has an interesting demographic on either ends of the economic spectrum.  From wealthy individuals who work in the mines surrounding Yellowknife and government employees paid $100,000+ to live in the remote community. To those who live in tiny wooden shacks along the the waterfront. Old Town Old Town is Yellowknife s historical core. You can still see clearly how Yellowknife would have been many moons ago. I was fascinated with the place so bought the book below to remember my time in this remarkable place.
