In case you haven't heard, legendary Dallas sports columnist and radio voice Randy Galloway hung up his radio headphones for the last time this past Monday choosing to sail off into an early retirement rather cheap hotels boston than finish up the last three months of his contract.
Why did he leave early? Cumulus, which owns rival sports radio giant 1310 The Ticket, has assumed operational control over at 103.3 FM ESPN Radio (Disney and ESPN still own the station). The Ticket has long been a rival of Galloway's, and once he learned there was language in his contract that stated he could still be paid in full for the remainder of his contract cheap hotels boston without actually working should a change in operation control ever happen, well it was an easy decision for him.
Now the big question is who will replace Galloway cheap hotels boston in the highly coveted afternoon 3pm-7pm time slot? Former 105.3 The Fan "RAGE" host Richie Whitt is writing on his DFW Sportatorium blog that his sources tell him that Galloway's replacement will be none other than.... Tim Cowlishaw . Cowlishaw has a history in Dallas almost as long as Galloway with his history as a sports cheap hotels boston columnist at the Dallas Morning News and today with his common appearances cheap hotels boston on ESPN TV's show "Around The Horn". Matt Mosley, who has been Galloway's partner on Galloway Co., will stay on to partner with Cowlishaw.
On the surface this sounds cheap hotels boston like a very good pairing. They won't threaten the ratings of the Hardline over at The Ticket but they very well could widen the gap even further between their ratings and those of the struggling Ben Skin Show who hold the same afternoon drive time over at Dallas' other all sports station 105.3 The Fan.
One thing is for sure, other than at The Ticket where the lineup has remained the same for 15 years, the landscape of the Dallas sports radio scene has seen a lot of movement in the past 12 months. The Fan has made a number of changes to their lineup, none of which seem to work, and ESPN is now losing it's #1 local attraction in Galloway.
If you listen closely enough, you can even hear rumblings that much troubled , make that very much troubled , former Ticket/ESPN/The Fan radio personality Greg "The Hammer" Williams could be on his way back to the Dallas radio waves...couldn't be true, could it?
