Located on the outer edge of Disney World, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a great option if you want to go to Disney, or Orlando, but also want to be able to get away from Disney westin hotel atlanta at the same time. This hotel is not considered a Disney Resort Hotel, so you will not be able to leverage the special Disney "Extra Magic Hours" for Disney Guests, but outside of that, there is nothing but upside.
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is located about 18 miles from the Orlando Airport and right in between Universal Studios and the Magic Kingdom, so it is very easy to get to any of the local attractions and theme parks.
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a large resort with 815 rooms and 46 suites.    The property recently went through westin hotel atlanta an extensive renovation so all of the rooms were updated with Flat Screen TV s, contemporary furnishings and a large marble bathroom with separate bath and shower area.  The rooms ranged from standard King and Double to Hypo-Allergenic rooms (with extra air purification for guest with Allergies) to large suites.  The suites looked very nice, so they would be a good option for Diamond westin hotel atlanta members to use one of their 4 guaranteed suite upgrades.
We were given a Pool View Double.  It was a pretty standard 360 sq ft room with all of the typical amenities you would find in a Hyatt room.  The view out the window was very nice overlooking the lagoon pool and Lake Windsong.
There are several restaurants within the resort including, La Coquina s Chef's Kitchen  and Hemingway s for upscale dining, and Cascade American Bistro, White Horse Sports Bar and the Palm Cafe for more casual dining.  I normally not a big fan of eating at the hotel restaurants, other than lunch, but I have eaten dinner at Hemingway s several times and it is always very good.
With the exception of the golf courses and golf academy, the majority it the other activities do not have a separate charge.  There is a resort fee of $26 per room, but you will not have to pay to use the bikes, rock wall, pitch and putt course, water sports, etc..  I found this to be very nice, since most hotels would charge for each one of these individual activities.
My kids spent about 45 minutes on the rock wall, then we grabbed some bikes to go for a ride on the bike paths and finished up with a round of pitch and putt golf.  It was a great way to relax and have fun with the family for a day, while taking a break from the long lines at Disney.
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress westin hotel atlanta offers a fairly good value for using Gold Passport points.  Pool view and Regency Club rooms typically run around $250 to $300 per night, in season. I booked this hotel over Easter week, on very short notice, so the room rates available for me were higher than they typically would have been if I planned in advance, making the use of my Gold Passport points more valuable than they typically westin hotel atlanta would have been.

I booked a standard room for 18,000 points/night.   I knew I would get the same benefits as a Regency Club room offered, since I am a Hyatt Diamond member so there was not need to use the extra 4,000 points a night for that.

Overall, this hotel is fairly Point Friendly and Elite Status Friendly , nothing like the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris , which is the best Point and Elite Status hotel I have personally westin hotel atlanta stayed at, but it was great option for our family, with two kids.
