These guys blasted (well it was loud if not fast) down York Street just as I was exiting Union Stati

The Gumball 3000 Exotic Car Rally rolled into the tony Yorkville neighbourhood last night, on the penultimate stop of an eight-city international tour, beginning in London, England and traveling through Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, then Boston, Montreal, Toronto and finally New York.
Hundreds of people discount travel packages showed up to ogle the parade, delighting with every rev and burn out the drivers treated them to. Each year a different discount travel packages route is chosen for the rally, which began as somewhat of a rebel-race for the rich. And while it's still definitely for the rich, it's not so much a race any more.
Law enforcement is well on the lookout for these adrenalin junkies on wheels; just a few days ago in Amsterdam actor Michael Madsen's car had to be pulled from the rally when his driver got a monster speeding ticket, and media reports this morning suggest that a driver got his car impounded for speeding on Ontario roads.
As promised, the OPP has been vigilant in its monitoring of the rally. A Dodge Charger -- surely the least impressive discount travel packages of the many cars -- was caught discount travel packages doing 140 kph on the 401 in the Marysville area and given a ticket. Not enough to dissuade the driver, he was later caught doing 170 kph in and around Brighton, which resulted in his car being impounded and his licence seized for a week. No New York for you...
I saw one of these Gumball 3000 cars on the side of the 401 last night up in Bowmanville at around 4:30. About 20 feet behind it was a police cruiser writing up a ticket. I can only imagine how fast they were going.
These guys blasted (well it was loud if not fast) down York Street just as I was exiting Union Station this morning. I gotta say I stopped and drooled just a bit! It's pure fantasy, and though I'm all for nailing them when they misbehave on public roads, I still enjoy the fantasy.
You are a moron. Do you know how much energy is involved in a Dodge Charger traveling at 170kph? If these guys want to have fun, let them race their toys on a track. But to endanger the lives of the public by driving recklessly on our roads...no thanks.
The OPP were very ready for this. On my drive to work this morning I passed about 8 OPP cars parked at various points along the QEW between about Islington and Erin Mills Pkwy. This is a stretch of road where normally I might see a police car once a month in traffic, and never waiting on the side of the road.
To all those that claim that going 170 is too much, look at the Autobhan, speed isn't the cause of most accidents, it normally, people doing stupid things. In Italy, they have police escorts, we should have them here to so that on one is hurt from goin 170! Btw, 170 is nothing, been in a car doing 210, can trust me, u can avoid slower discount travel packages traffic. The danager is their because u are travelling at a high rate of speed but if your a decent drive, you can avoid most of the danager.
