I m accustomed to receiving an included breakfast and free wi-fi at moderately priced chain hotels across the U.S., like Country Inns Suites or Homewood carnival cruise review Suites. But when those included amenities are offered at a quaint, European-inspired boutique hotel in the heart of Vail Village? Well, that just colors me ecstatic. Add an outdoor swimming pool next to picturesque Gore Creek, comfy beds, guestroom fireplaces and spacious bathrooms, and we ve got ourselves a winner with the Austria Haus Hotel .
My family of four stayed at the Austria Haus earlier this month. While it s a little hard to find while driving carnival cruise review in from the Vail frontage road (technically the hotel is in a pedestrian area), I quickly realized how great its location is. Just steps away from the locally famous covered bridge carnival cruise review over Gore Creek, Austria Haus is also close t the Vista Bahn chairlift, and dozens of restaurants, carnival cruise review bars and shops.
We overnighted in a Columbine Deluxe Room. I appreciated the little sitting area near a small fireplace for storing our luggage carnival cruise review and gear (such as bike helmetsand carnival cruise review hiking boots) for a outdoors-centric weekend. The marble bathroom was huge, with a commode behind a closed door, two sinks and enough room for a small table in the corner. Bed linens were plush, walls were plenty thick (we never heard our neighbors), and we made good use of the mini fridge and coffee maker. Though we never turned on the flat-screen TV, nor listened to the Bose radio with iPod docking station, I m sure many guests would absolutely appreciate those amenities.
Hot breakfast in a charming dining room just off the lobby was fabulous, with pastries, crepes, egg sandwiches, make-your-own waffles, bagels, toast and cereal. In true European carnival cruise review form, there was also a plate of thinly sliced roast beef, ham, turkey and other meats, as well as cheese. We fueled up for our active days quite happily during this included meal.
I checked rates for a Saturday night stay in September, carnival cruise review and they begin at $195/night; prices drop in the off season of October, and likely increase sharply in the heart of winter season. Note that the hotel does charge carnival cruise review a $30/night resort fee per room, to help cover those internet, breakfast and valet parking amenities you ll enjoy. I wish hotels in general would stop with the resort-fee nonsense, and just include that fee in nightly room rates (making complimentary Internet truly complimentary). Still, despite the resort carnival cruise review fee, I wouldn t hesitate to recommend the Austria Haus to a family, a couple or a few gal pals for a comfortable, convenient, lovely place to stay during a trip to Vail .
