Angus has been chatting  with me on  twitter and he finds this a great way to communicate with people, friends and family. We were intrigued to find out more about his life as a Station owner. (Say hello to Angus on Twitter)
He and his family lives on Wyndham Station, a 12500 ha property 85kms out from Wentworth in NSW.   Here Angus shares with us what he loves about being a farmer and also what he loves to do when he gets a chance to come into Mildura.
Where do you live? What brought you there? Our family has been in the Wentworth area for nearly 100 years.  We live on a 12,500ha property on the Anabranch River.  The river bought my family to the Wentworth hotels near reno livestock event center region.
Where did your family originally come from before they moved to Wentworth? My Mum's family lived at Karadoc (site of the Lindemans winery) and my Dad's family lived just north of here at Willow Point (where I grew up).
What would you recommend a tourist do/see to get a wider perspective on their holiday to Mildura? Get in a car and drive! Head to Pooncarie and also go and have a cuppa or breakfast at Artback Café in Wentworth .  Have a meal at either The Crown or Royal Hotels in Wentworth
Your favourite "inside tip" to share with non-Mildura residents? I buy fresh food from roadside stalls/markets , olive oil and other goodies from Varapodio Café (brother sister in law) and I get great coffee  from Clove Organic Shop and Cafe
We are yet to feature Varapodio Café can you tell our readers a bit more about it please? hotels near reno livestock event center It is set amongst the olive trees in Buronga, a family owned café with their own olive pressing facilities. They have great coffee and are open for lunch and morning afternoon teas, they also sell a large range of their own award winning oils as well as other local produce. If someone is new to Mildura, what are a few must-see destinations? Go out to Orange World, Trentham Estate Winery Restaurant  and find out about local horticulture, travel to Wentworth and look at the junction of the mighty Murray and Darling rivers.
What are your favourite Mildura night-out-on-the-town destinations? I like the Grand Pizza Café if we ever make Mildura, most times we will be at either the Crown or Royal Hotels hotels near reno livestock event center in Wentworth, both have wonderful reasonably priced meals.
What are the events that people on the land in and around Wentworth look forward to? The Wentworth Show is awesome, best show anywhere (biased!!), the Pooncarie Field Day (every 2nd year), the Wentworth Races on Melbourne Cup Day and the Anabranch Sports hotels near reno livestock event center day at the Anabranch Hall is a fantastic day as well.
People talk about connections to land/country how does this apply to you and your family? We live in the land, on the land and with the land. The way I see it, the better your connection with the land and understanding, the more contentment you will have in your life.
Your son Mitchell is with you, are you grooming him to become a farmer? Does he wish to be anything else? What we see as the most important thing, is us setting a good example of how good a life we can have farming. If he chooses to follow that would be great as we need more farmers, no pressure!
How do the majority of children on stations get their schooling? Our son Mitchell is schooled through School of the Air Broken Hill, unfortunately there aren t many other kids around here currently. South of us, they usually go to Wentworth and north of us they do School of the Air.
Is living on a station lonely at times, how do you stay connected to people? hotels near reno livestock event center There is a big difference between being alone and being lonely, I feel very lonely in a city because I feel nobody cares about me, out here we all look after one another. We have a large network of friends hotels near reno livestock event center that call in from time to time or we contact through phone, facebook, email or twitter.
Can you share any plans you have for the future, both personally and for your business? We are looking to see how healthy we can have our landscape, so in the future we look to enhance all of the natural "assistants" that are available in nature hotels near reno livestock event center so we can gradually drop our reliance on chemicals. We are constantly looking for options hotels near reno livestock event center of new enterprises that work symbiotically with the grazing enterprises that we currently run, we don't know yet what they are and that is exciting.
Was there a club in Wentworth? There was a club at Wentworth, unfortunately when it was dry our field couldn t be watered and most people had to sell their horses due to lack of feed. I hope that we could start it up again one day. I still do polo coaching at Pony Club once a year.
