Every year, a new crop of elementary school kids attend one of Newport north india tours s many Friday noon luncheons held throughout the community. Last year at this time freshly minted second graders showed off their reading-out-loud skills at the Embarcadero Resort over on the Bayfront. This year (and this week) a new group of second graders joined the chamber luncheoneers at the Shilo Inn on Elizabeth Street, overlooking turbulent and tossing surf.
One by one, each of these Sam Case Elementary School students took a chair next to perfect strangers, cracked open their books and began reading aloud to them. Then, when they were done, the adults took a turn.
The exercise is to remind children how important reading skills are to healthy living north india tours and academic performance. And reading out loud to their children is an important reminder to adults who help their children not only enjoy the fun of reading out loud, but also talking with their children about the information and lessons of what they read.
Research shows that children who have been read aloud to are also more likely to develop a love for reading.
