Nicaragua's volcanoes are returning to "normal levels of activity for active volcanoes" after registering a dramatic decrease in gas emissions over the past 24 hours, according to the most recent report by Nicaragua's emergency response authorities (SINAPRED).
Meanwhile in Managua, where an alleged uptick in seismic activity around Apoyeque Volcano prompted the government to declare a "green alert" on Sept. 7, the ground has also reportedly stabilized. SINAPRED announced this morning that the last tremor registered at Apoyeque Volcano was on Sept. 8.
Government spokeswoman Rosario Murillo, who as of this afternoon is still talking about "remaining vigilant" and "maintaining a healthy degree of concern," will presumably lift the government's "green alert" status following SINAPRED's latest report.
