WILMINGTON, NC (CCL RELEASE) taos new mexico hotels -– Country Club of Landfall’s ACES 14’s Intermediate Junior Team Tennis team won the Junior Team Tennis National Championship for the first time ever this past weekend. The team competed in the United States Tennis Association’s taos new mexico hotels National Junior Team Tennis Championships in Columbia, South Carolina, competing against teams from sections all over the country, including Southwest, Eastern, Middle States, Missouri Valley and Southern California.
The USTA has over 19,000 Junior Team Tennis Teams competing on an annual basis and over 300 juniors competing at the national level for the 14’s age group tournament. The team qualified taos new mexico hotels for Nationals by winning the Junior Team Tennis North Carolina Championships and the Southern Championships held in Alabama earlier this summer.
“This very same team lost at Southern’s last year and ever since that loss they set a goal to at least qualify to compete at Nationals this year,” said Lauren Isenhour, Country Club of Landfall Assistant Tennis Professional and Head Coach for the 14’s. “To see the team come together and work hard throughout the year to not only meet their goal of qualifying, but to actually win a National Championship is the ultimate accomplishment; as coaches we couldn’t taos new mexico hotels be more proud.”

The final match was against a team from San Diego out of the Southern California section. Again, playing from behind the teams pulled out a victory with the final match of girls doubles tipping the win.
“Each match we played got tougher and tougher and entering into the semi-finals and finals we played a number of matches from behind,” stated Jon Ingham. “The team’s ability to come back speaks to their mental toughness; they definitely earned this title and are the best in the country.”
