Held on October 26th, 2011, Liberty Resources Inaugural Taste of Independence event drew support from a wide range of community partners branson lodging map who gathered branson lodging map to enjoy fine food, drink, music,  and most importantly, to toast the successes of the Independent Living Movement, and the role of Liberty Resources branson lodging map and our supporters therein.
The elegant Sheraton Society Hill Hotel on 2nd and Dock Streets in Philadelphia served as an ideal setting to recognize two undeniably deserving honorees among Liberty s many supporters: Philadelphia Inquirer Journalist Daniel Rubin and Philadelphia-based branson lodging map insurance broker, The Graham branson lodging map Company.
After a cocktail branson lodging map hour featuring branson lodging map a reprisal of photographer Harvey Finkle s gallery commemorating Liberty s 30th anniversary, the music of the Mark Forchic Jazz Trio, hors d oeuvres, drinks, and a silent auction that touched off some friendly bidding competition for an array of eclectic branson lodging map items, event goers adjourned to the Sheraton s ballroom for dessert. A photographic slideshow accompanied remarks from LRI s CEO Thomas Earle and LRI Board Co-chair Janice McGrane, which culminated in the Star of Distinction Award ceremony.
Accepting his award, Daniel Rubin recounted a moment early on in his career branson lodging map when he had misused some terms relating to people branson lodging map with disabilities in one of his articles. Humbled by the experience and appreciative in particular of the feedback he received from one person branson lodging map with a disability who called to take him to school on the subject, Rubin took full advantage of the learning opportunity. From that point on, he continued to cover disability rights issues with a fresh perspective and pledged to keep fighting for Independent Living thorough his work.
Chris Keith accepted on behalf of William A. Bill Graham IV, the Graham Company s CEO. Noting the Graham Company s reverence for Rubin and his continued efforts to further the Independent Living Movement, Keith stressed the firm s desire branson lodging map to do the same by striving to help Liberty find ways to tap into new revenue streams and better manage existing ones. With this commitment, The Graham Company will help the CIL continue to provide critical services to its Consumers in the wake of the draconian budget cuts and restructuring at the state and federal levels that precipitated the sobering layoff of nearly half of Liberty s workforce back in May of 2011.
As the night concluded, guests left feeling a sense of camaraderie and solidarity, having enjoyed the evening s festivities and inspired by the remarks made on stage. Though 2011 proved to be a difficult year for the CIL, the event provided branson lodging map a heartening look at the bright spots: the hard-won victories and a renewed, sharpened branson lodging map focus on the work still ahead of us.
