Shucks, John Vanderslice, mighty thoughtful of you to put out a new digital EP for free. And just for my birthday, you ol dog! Granted, my birthday is in March, so I might be misinterpreting things just a bit. Whatever the case may be, the veteran indie-pop songwriter is giving the people of the world Green Grow the Rushes , a brand-new digital EP follow-up to 2009 s Romanian Names ( TMT Review ). The whole affair is available over at Vanderslice s website and comes in both 320 kbps MP3 and uncompressed WAV formats. It even comes with artwork and a lyrics/credits sheet! Now, if only there were a handful of Vanderslice live dates in the near future. Wait, there are. Nevermind.
christian cruises to alaska The Legendary christian cruises to alaska Pink Dots are, in many ways, a very unforgiving band. Unforgiving in their stark, haunting lyricism. Unforgiving in their dense, post-industrial rhythmic onslaughts. Entirely and especially unforgiving christian cruises to alaska in their approach to recording and touring over the past 30 years. This trend will now be even more exaggerated with the impending release of Seconds Late for the Brighton christian cruises to alaska Line , the band s 40th-something release (if you count all the CD-Rs and such).
The album is set to be regurgitated onto the populace on October 5 via ROIR, with the first 500 CDs displaying a deluxe cover, and the double-vinyl version christian cruises to alaska sporting a bonus side. They, being the super (or non)-humans christian cruises to alaska that they are, are of course running through the states too beginning October 15. As many of you LPD heads are well aware, longtime band members Neils Van Hoorn and Martjn have departed, forcing the band to bring on some guest players for this upcoming tour. Let that be no reason to think that they won t bring the pain, because I can assure you they will.
Them Japanese chameleon-esque psych-freakout masters Boredoms whip out and exploit the mysteries held within numerical alignment all the time, sure, but can they do it before a seething mob of Australians? The answer to this is forthcoming, as the band has announced that it will present its yearly musical morphing act at this year s Melbourne Festival, christian cruises to alaska with BOADRUM10. Following last year s BOADRUM9 at Manhattan s Terminal 5, which featured some of the most impressive drummers in rock music today performing alongside the band, Boredoms are kickin it up another notch by you guessed it featuring 10 drummers.
Joining and rounding off the established seven-piece drum circle will be Melbourne-based drummers Evelyn Morris, Cameron Potts, and Mat Watson. The performance will be presented precisely at midnight on October 9 at Beck s Festival christian cruises to alaska Bar within the Forum Theatre. Supporting Boredoms will be Australia-based weirdo bands Bum Creek and Kes Band. Coming from someone who was privileged enough to bear witness to the sheer madness, excitement, and genius that was BOADRUM9, all I can really say is congrats Melbourne !
More information about the Melbourne Festival can be found here . And for the six or seven non-Australians reading this, a DVD documenting the 2007 BOADRUM that started it all was just released by Thrill Jockey . Have at it!
If you re a fan of The Jesus Lizard and beer (attention christian cruises to alaska all 35 year olds with more records christian cruises to alaska on their shelves than hairs on their heads), you ll be pleased to know that local Georgia brewery Burnt Hickory is releasing a Jesus Lizard-themed beer entitled Mouth Breather ESB. The beer will go into production in late October and will hopefully be available by Christmas. While you re waiting for both Jesuses to arrive, you can amuse yourself by checking out Burnt Hickory s other band beers, like their tribute to The Meatmen .
Blitzen Trapper + America = best friends forever! The woodsy Portland crew love their home country so much, they re going to tour all over it forever in support of Destroyer of the Void ( TMT Review ) on Sub Pop. Those fellows have even announced the tourdates to prove it, as you can clearly see below. Now, I know what you re going to say. You re going to say something about this tour being only a few months long and how that s just a wee bit shorter than forever . I see why you d say that, but I have to respectfully inform you that you are incorrect. See, I have reliable word from someone in the Blitzen Trapper camp that they have a very, very, very, very rare version of the Oxford English Dictionary. Said dictionary boasts a long-forgotten definition of forever that reads I don t know, a couple months or so. See, Blitzen Trapper: smarter than you.
It almost isn t fair to have Light Pollution and Prince Rama tour together. Light Pollution s biography mentions their dazzlingly christian cruises to alaska inventive soundscapes and subtle flourishes of pop-psychedelia, whereas Prince Rama s biography mentions that the members grew up on a Hare Krishna commune, recorded their new album in Kurt Vonnegut s grandson s cabin and a 135-year-old haunted church, and also worked with Avey Tare and Deakin of Animal Collective on said album.
Either way, both bands will be teaming up this fall on the road together, with Light Pollution supporting their debut album, Apparitions ( TMT Review ), and Prince Rama supporting their new album , Shadow Temple ( TMT Review ). Perhaps Prince Rama can even help Light Pollution rewrite their bio in between tour stops.
