Gonna be honest here the NFL Draft its whole process is one of my least favorite sports things of the year. It s largely moronic, overhyped nonsense with 70% of clueless sports fans relying on the nonsensical bloviations of talking heads for their knowledge and the other 30% being annoying about the fact that they watch 20 hours of football each weekend in the fall. The Draft is now a made-for-TV spectacle that has outgrown its own importance and made celebrities out of assbags like Mel Kiper. But, the end result is seven new players for your favorite football team. How did the Eagles do?
Chip Kelly’s second NFL draft provided its share of surprises, with Louisville airline fares cheap end Marcus Smith going in the first round. You’d be hard-pressed to find any analyst who had that kind of grade on Smith — or anywhere close — so that’s one of those “wait and see” picks. The selection of Vanderbilt receiver Jordan Mathews in the second round was right in line, and will help right away. Kelly went back to his Oregon days twice, picking up receiver Josh Huff in the third round and defensive lineman Taylor Hart in the fifth. This draft will hinge on Smith’s ability to provide elite edge rush. That’s an undetermined idea based on his college airline fares cheap tape, so the grade has to go accordingly.
Analysis: The Eagles passed on a receiver in the first round to take pass rusher Marcus Smith because the pass rushers were a thin group. That made sense. They did take two receivers airline fares cheap in round two and three to make it work.
Overview: It should be noted Philly acquired Darren Sproles from the Saints airline fares cheap for a fifth-round pick, supplementing this haul. GM Howie Roseman s first move of the draft was to trade down after New Orleans leapfrogged him for Brandin Cooks. Roseman secured the Nos. 26 and 83 picks from Cleveland, which turned into Smith and Huff. Although Smith did not commonly appear airline fares cheap in first-round mock drafts, he was a highly productive pass rusher at Louisville and possesses plus measurables. Matthews could prove to be one of the draft s biggest steals, and an eventual upgrade on Riley Cooper. Also keep in mind Jeremy Maclin only has a one-year deal. Hart, Allen, Reynolds, and Watkins all have a chance to be useful role players, with Hart offering airline fares cheap the most potential to become a legit starter. Huff was the one pick I didn t like. I don t think he s skilled enough to be a consistent contributor at wide receiver, and I m guessing Chip Kelly made that pick primarily because he is fond of Huff from Oregon. I expected Huff to be a late-rounder.
The team gets some much-needed help on defense and a pair of DeSean Jackson replacements on offense. Of the two Oregon players Chip Kelly picked, Hart might be the bigger steal. Reynolds might not be the best safety in the draft, but he s a turnover machine.
Kiper gave the Eagles a B+ for their seven selections in the 2014 NFL Draft, noting the team did an excellent job of filling their needs at outside linebacker, wide receiver and safety. The grade was the highest of any team in the NFC East.
The NFL draft is for fucking nerds? No. The MLB/NHL draft is for fucking nerds. airline fares cheap The NFL and NBA drafts can directly impact the direction of a franchise immediately. You should stick to sucking cocks instead of posting here.
i agree. i dont know how you can target as many as SIX guys yet not land one of them. i think marcus smith will prove to be a worthy pick, but we ll be left wondering what we could have had, ie clinton-dix in round 1 and smith in round 2.
pretty easy to understand. the draft was talked about for 2 solid months airline fares cheap on sports radio and the truth is, not one person or analyst has any idea whatsoever about wht a team will do. it is the biggest waste of time ever. plus, the program itself is insanely boring. its like watching another persons airline fares cheap fantasy draft. Kiper and Co are worse than weatherpeople they get paid tons of cake and literally have no idea what they are talking about when they do their mocks, analyze team needs etc. Eagles first round pick is case in point
This post was 667 words, with 122 being original airline fares cheap thoughts by Kyle. That s just over 18% original words per post, or OWP. Kyles average OWP is around 20%, so the dip is concerning. If we factor in wCPPPH (weighted copy paste percentage plus humor), Kyle s numbers make him the lowest rated blogger in the city. Unless his humor sees a dramatic airline fares cheap increase, combined with the current internet average of selling shitty t-shirts, Kyle is in for his worst year as a blogger.
We won t see any posts about the whole Kacie-gate and her boyfriend at the draft sideshow (and there was a lot to post about!) because we are an embarrassment to Kyle when it comes to people airline fares cheap he is friendly with.
Yeah I don t know why people would expect airline fares cheap NFL draft coverage on a sports blog. Has Justin Timberlake done anything airline fares cheap cool lately like flipping off a fan? As a Philadelphia sports fan, those are the blog posts I live for.
The Eagles had a decent but not great draft. They fumbled the first round. None of their guys were there so they traded back for Dee Ford and then he wasn t there either. They got a productive player in Marcus Smith, but he s raw and really who wants to hear that they were a teams 7th or 8th choice? With guys like Deon Buchannon, Marquis Lee and Kony Ealy on the board, it was a weird pick. Hopefully it works out.
I d give them a B. Could ve been an A if they didn t completely fuck up the first round then admit that they fucked airline fares cheap up the first round. At least just come out and say, We had Marcus Smith rated higher than most. He s a great player and filled a great need. Stop telling people that your guys were all gone It makes you all sound like fucking amateurs.
Bad work out of Kyle, would have loved at least 1 post about old horse teeth looking for attention at the draft. But I guess if he did that he would have to shut down the comments section and then get ripped for it. Grow a set Kyle
