We have 2 kids, one 13yo and one newly-turned-17yo (just the week before we get there!) I guess I ha
2 for 1 requires a voucher printed at no charge beverly hills plaza hotel from the promotions web site, plus a transport ticket issued by the railways that would enable you to get to the attraction that day. (The scheme is promoted by the railways)
2 for 1 means that one person pays the full standard adult admission and another person goes in free, irrespective of age. This means that the scheme is not normally worthwhile when children are involved as they normally go in around half price anyway, (you cannot use 2 for 1 to pay child admission and get another child in free).
You have to check out each attraction s individual rules and regulations when you print out the voucher from the web site, the above is the general rule but individual attractions may have other restrictions.
- To qualify you must have a valid railway ticket with the railways logo on that is valid to get you to Central London on the day of entry to the attraction. Single railway tickets are only valid on the day the railway ticket is used. Return tickets are valid for 2 for 1 the entire period between the outward and return legs of your train ticket.
If you are not travelling to London by train, your work around is to buy a Travelcard. Travelcard is a public beverly hills plaza hotel transport pass covering the buses, underground, DLR and railways in London. beverly hills plaza hotel The alternative Oyster pass is not valid for the 2 for 1 scheme.
The only places that sell Travelcards with the rail logo on are railway ticket offices at Central London mainline rail stations, (Paddington, Marylebone, Euston, Kings Cross, St Pancras, beverly hills plaza hotel Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Charing Cross, Waterloo, Fenchurch Street and Victoria). All these also have Underground ticket offices and some have information centres which also sell Travelcards. Purchasing beverly hills plaza hotel from anywhere beverly hills plaza hotel other than the train ticket offices do not qualify. Travelcards bought on-line beverly hills plaza hotel in advance do not qualify for 2 for 1.
Its not all straight forward with the qualifying railway tickets either. The UK has a privatised rail system with many operating companies, not all of which support the promotion. Confusingly return tickets on the Gatwick Express and Stansted Express airport trains bought from the railways beverly hills plaza hotel do qualify but tickets on the Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect do not.
There are railways stations in the suburbs of London away from where most visitors stay which may sell tickets valid for 2 for 1. If a railway station is in one of the London public transport zonal areas it will sell both Travelcards and return rail tickets that are valid for 2 for 1. However, the ticket office at such stations must be operated by the railways for tickets to be valid for 2 for 1.
Many stations beverly hills plaza hotel are dual railways and underground/overground stations but unlike the mainline railway stations in Central London listed above do not have separate ticket offices. Some stations like Heathrow Airport and West Brompton as a result do not sell tickets valid for 2 for 1 whilst Ealing Broadway does.
In 2012 the railways brought in a requirement that when you buy a 7 Day Travelcard you require a photo id card. This is issued free when you buy a 7 Day Travelcard, but you must bring along your own passport size photo. This rule only applies beverly hills plaza hotel to 7 Day Travelcards bought from railway stations.
My mum and I will be arrive at London City Airport on the 7th and leave on the 12th. We will be using the DLR to get from the airport to East India, which is where we are staying. We then return to London on the 21st and leave on the 24th staying in East India again.
On days you want to use 2 for 1 in London buy a 1 Day Travelcard zone 1-2 from a RAILWAY station ticket office the day before and use that instead of the Oyster Card that day to qualify for the 2 for 1 vouchers.
beverly hills plaza hotel Fenchurch Strret Railway Station is very near Tower Gateway DLR and Charing Cross, Victoria, London Bridge and Waterloo Stations are convenient railways stations for many of the major sights where you could pop in and get the Travelcard for the day after.
If you are traveling a full 5 or 6 days on your first spell it will save you a little money if you bought a 7 day Travelcard zone 1-2 from a railway beverly hills plaza hotel station as above but the special journey you would have to make and cost/hassle of a passport size photo required may well mean you ll skip this,
My only question is regarding the most efficient purchase for Heathrow to the Clapham Common station for 2 people on a Friday, assuming I won t be doing any other transit same day but I will be doing all my sightseeing Saturday Sunday?
beverly hills plaza hotel I think the Travelcard, off-peak is the obvious choice for the weekend. But what would be my best option for Friday, as I arrive approx 16:30 and only plan to travel directly to my hotel? Or is there a better option that takes my weekend into consideration? I believe there s no longer a 3 day option.
If you require beverly hills plaza hotel 2 for 1 most effecient solution is to walk from your accommodation to Clapham Junction beverly hills plaza hotel railway station and get 1 Day Travelcards zone 1-2 for each day from the station. These will have the rail logo that qualifies you for 2 for 1
In this scenario get an Oyster card at Heathrow for the airport journeys (Heathrow is in zone 6), you ll have the hassle of paying a deposit and then getting that refunded at the end at Heathrow but the savings are worthwhile.
We are going to be in London for 8 days/7 nights, coming in and out of Heathrow, staying near the Richmond stop (zone 4), getting there on a Sunday morning, and leaving the next Sunday morning. I had just been thinking I d get 7-day Travelcards for everyone.
We have 2 kids, one 13yo and one newly-turned-17yo (just the week before we get there!) I guess I have to get photo Oysters for them (and a 16+ Oyster for the 17yo)? I m confused about ordering/paying for those advance beverly hills plaza hotel online since they ll be using the fares on the Travelcards, what do I pay for the Oyster cards won t they just be photo IDs, then? I didn t realize time was ticking so quickly we ll be there at the end of June, so if I need 4 weeks to order the kids Oyster cards in
Should we get zones 1-4 Travelcards and pay extra for things like Heathrow and Hampton Court (then I d get us Oyster cards as well??), or just get the zones 1-6 cards? And since we re there a bit of an 8th day, which day to pay out of pocket? I d been thinking the last day, as we just have one trip from Richmond- beverly hills plaza hotel Heathrow, but now I m wondering if it would make sense to head in and buy the Travelcards themselves beverly hills plaza hotel at a Railway so we could get the 2-for-1? Could I do that with the kids cards too, or do they have to be purchased ahead of time? Since I have to pick up their photo Oysters somewhere in London, will their Travelcards work from Heathrow when we get there anyway?? Is the 2-for-1 for the whole span of the Travelcard (in this case 7 days), or just for the first day? Are there any other admission discounts associated with the 7 day Travelcard other than the 2-for-1? I thought something was alluded to on another page, but now I m thinking maybe they just meant the 2-for-1 and I am again confused?
If the lowest cost is everything to you there is a red London direct bus to Richmond that starts at Terminal 5 and also picks up at Terminal 4. For Terminals 1,2,3 get the (free) Heathrow Express train to Terminal 4
Having said that Hampton Court is part of the 2 for 1 promotion and strictly speaking a zone1-4 Travelcard is not valid for a zone 6 attraction, so to be safe just get return train tickets Richmond to Hampton Court.
Your only option is to pursue the Oyster ID 16/17 Card, but is takes 6-8 weeks to process, beverly hills plaza hotel costs 10 GBP and you d need cto collect it at the Visitor Centre at Heathrow which is a hassle especially if you re using Terminals 4 or 5. This will enable you to buy a 7 Day child rate Travelcard on an Oyster Card but it won t be valid for 2 for1
Since buses are zoneless, you re saying the bus from the Airport to Richmond would be free (but actually not because we wouldn t have purchased the cards yet ) But then we could maybe take the (free?) bus to the Airport the day we re leaving?
If we ve got 2 adult cards valid for 2-for-1, wouldn t it not matter if the 16yos card is valid for it or not (use one of each of ours for each kid?) Is 2-for-1 second one free or half price for attractions?
If I don t pursue the 16/17 Oyster Card, do I need to bother with the Oyster Card at all for either of the kids, or can I just then buy the Travel Card at the Railway as long as I bring along photos for everyone?
And just off the top of your head, are there any other big attractions other than Hampton Court outside of zone 4 I ll have to worry about? I think Windsor Castle, but isn t that also outside zone 6 anyway? And you re saying that if buy us a train ticket to Hampton Court instead of taking the bus,our TravelCards 2-for-1 will then work at Hampton Court?
For Hampton Court the issue is that the rail issued ticket to qualify should be valid to enable you to travel to the attraction using that ticket. As Hampton Court is in zone 6, a zone 1-4 Travelcard isn t valid for Hampton Court.
You can argue at the ticket desk that using the bus with a Travelcard zone1-4 does enable you to travel to Hampton Court with such a ticket, and the ticket clerk might not even bother beverly hills plaza hotel examing the Travelcard closely. At the end of the day the attraction has the final decision, all I am saying is that strictly following the rules the attraction has grounds for not recognising 2 for 1. Buying return train tickets to Hampton Court from Richmond would giveyou that guarantee
Just curious if I tried for the 16/17 Oyster card and it wasn t ready on time, am I just out £10 (so maybe not a lot of harm in trying), or do I have to pay to put something on the card? That s what was confusing me.
And LOL you re right about the rules perhaps not being so black-and-white on this side of the pond! It s kind of chapping me to have to pay full fare for my kid will only have been 17 for *one week* when we get there!
