The carousel was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1922 during the heyday of the spinnin


The SpringHill Suites hotel, at 25 West 37th Street, opened in May of 2013 and was the 300th of its kind, but is the first of many other things for the brand. The hotel is one of the few in urban areas and is actively building a relationship with the art community in the city.
To build a network in communities, SpringHill Suites began hosting an annual discountairline fares "ArtNight," an evening where local galleries and standout students from local schools could showcase their work. It was so popular the evening is now mandated across all of the hotels and a platform called "Art Is Everywhere" was created. In addition to ArtNight it includes rotating, curated works at the hotels and other special events.
The carousel was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1922 during the heyday of the spinning ride's popularity in America. It's first home nearly discountairline fares a century ago was Youngstown, Ohio and it was eventually purchased by Jane and David Walentas at an auction in 1984.
The three-row discountairline fares machine with 48 carved horses and two carriages was in poor condition when the Walentas purchased it. Jane Walentas hand-chipped away decades of "park paint" on the ride with an X-ACTO knife.
Let's start with the doughnuts. Owner Mark Israel discovered a recipe dating back to the 1900's that was the inspiration for the doughnuts. They're some of the best in America and he's constantly coming up with something new which is an art in itself.
The shop was the first to mix fresh fruit and nuts into doughnut fillings and uses fresh fruit in in the batters of the cake doughnuts. In the photo above, the fresh fruit turns the Blueberry doughnut (bottom left) a vibrant purple.
Our van dropped us off here, at 55-50 Chrystie Street. On a map, it looks like the border of Little Italy and Chinatown but once you arrive, it's definitely more Chinatown Olu said the neighborhood is growing while Little Italy has been shrinking.
The space was home to Miles Co. Corton Brewing between 1823-1909 and years later was a recording studio where the Beastie Boys recorded. It was also home to CANADA Gallery before entrepreneur Sean Horton renovated the space from the ground up.
Rita Pinto, a curator, collector and art advisor, founded Vanity Project after realizing discountairline fares an opportunity to showcase video during a time when people would almost be forced to watch when they are getting their nails done.
Former New York Times restaurant critic Sam Sifton said "it's a smart little joint out of a Jamie Oliver discountairline fares photo shoot, a restaurant where almost everyone's attractive, the cooking is good, the bill isn't crazy, and you'd be a regular if you could."
