The location is the hotel's unbeatable feature. It is well within walking distance of amusement centers, pier docks for cruises and other important landmarks. Room was well-kept and looked fresh every night. A great place to stay in San Diego. Nicole Carson

The best part of this hotel is its location. Convenient to waterfront activities and the cruise pier. The free shuttle to the San Diego Zoo was an unexpected plus. Only problem we had was we didn't make a shuttle reservation in time an had to pay for a cab to the furthest cruise pier. Wonderful place to stay.
The location and view can't be beat. the room was clean but noisy. The ice maker and cold beverage dispensers were next to this room. They need to be relocated into the elevator loby to reduce the noise. Plenty of space to do so.
The hotel was very nice, clean, staff was very helpful, the view was wonderful of the bay but the only thing you need to be careful of is rooms with connecting doors insid the room. Our first night was not very restful due to people next door. They were not being loud or having a party. Just normal talking could be heard thru the connecting doors till 3 or 4 am. Very little privicy considering that. If you stay here make sure you dont have connecting doors inside the room other then that it was great,
View of the bay and board walk was great. Food venues were above average. As we returned from our 14 day cruise we wished we had just stayed in this hotel and enjoyed the sun, which was missing on the cruise most of the time.
Rode into San Diego on Amtrak and this hotel was a pretty easy walk, even for a 50 year old smoker with a heavy bag. Nice clean hotel with good amenities and pleasant staff. The only thing about the place that really annoyed me was the difficulty of getting a cup of coffee after 10 AM. Took me THREE tries to get someone at the bar/restaurant to acknowledge my presence. Not good when you are in need of the caffeine. Yes, a pot was provided in the room - one of those single serving deals that barely gets you out of the bed and down to the lobby. Other than the scarcity of the coffee, it was a great stay.
$22.00 for parking PER day, should be per stay, and say so up front. The thermostat should be occupant operational. Other than that very clean and housekeeping personnel were very friendly and helpful.
The thermostat did not work the 5 days we were there. hot one night and froze for 5 nights. Maintenence worked on it twice. Staff was pleasant. Also the free shuttle ran only 4 times a day which was not advetised as such in the AAA boook and the Trolley we paid for that was to pick us up at the hotel could not get through American Cup events so we needed to walk to find the trolley. The tickets were sold to us before we were told this.
Was not aware that there were only double beds in our room until arrival. Our room had only a shower and no bath. Also housekeeping opened the door with only a brief knock and no time to answer telling her that we would be out of the room shortly.
Very disappointed to find full size beds in room. I was not aware of this in advance. Very uncomfortable for my family of 4 as two of our family are tall in stature. Also the additional fee of $22 per day to park in their parking lot was outrageous. That was definately a first for us! No tub in bathroom, only a shower. No rerigerator in room. Also trash in guest laundry smelled horrible!
I stayed in San Diego for 4 nights, the first 2 at Motel 6 on 2nd and then 2 nights at Holiday Inn. To be totaly honest I would have rather just stayed at Motel 6. The staff was nicer and more helpful, free parking permit, I don't remember ever paying $22.00 a day for parking at any hotel I've stayed at.The water pressure (or lack of) was a big problem along with the elevator service at Holiday Inn.
Great location, beds were comfortable, but, the some of the security doors worked some didn't (you didn't need a key), and there was trash on the property (beer cans, whiskey bottle, orange juice containers and fast food wrappers), that had been there awhile, between the parking structure and the hotel, you only have to look down from the hotel room to parking structure to see it.
Staff was not friendly on our arrival .. no bell or luggage cart to use.. pool was not heated.. small ice box would have been helpful in room... parking charged $22 per day, should be per stay ..Fresh Coffee in lobby to purchase, but girl behind counter very rude and never smiled... not just one day, but all three days we were there.. was everyone having a bad week ????
When we first entered the room, we noticed there were black hairs on two of our pillow cases. We placed the pillow cases on the floor for the made to pick up the next day, but the pillow cases were simply put back on (hairs and all). Nothing (shampoo, coffee, lotions) was replaced when it was empty. There was also a tray of dirty dishes and food remnants left for over 24 hours just down the hall from us. Our snapshot of time we spent at the Holiday Inn on the Bay revealed terrible customer service; The worst I've ever seen at a hotel. The rooms were nice, but extremely basic (no microwave, no refrigerator, no hot tub by the pool area). Also, plan on paying $22 for parking. In short, if you want to get a taste of San Diego, but don't care too much about hotel accommodations, this is your place. If you're particular at all about where you stay, you'll likely be very disappointed.

We had made plans to stay at this hotel for one night on each end of a week-long mission trip into Mexico. On the way down we stayed on a Friday and the stay was relaxing and enjoyable. We'd arranged to park our van at the hotel while on our mission trip because our mission group had contracted to stay at this hotel upon returning to the states. Much to our surprise the hotel canceled our group's reservations only days before we were due to return, so our group had to make other arrangements (for over a hundred people). I then had to arrange for transportation from the "new" hotel to HISDOTB to pick up our van. HISDOTB had offered to reimburse me for the week's parking to offset some cost and hassle. That was a noble gesture I think, but thus far I've only gotten the run-around. We'll see if the hotel really comes through on the commitment.
