If you want to walk off the plane and into your car, make sure that the option you choose in Hotwire lists the location as the airport. If it says "Varies by rental agency," you might be booking an in-city car. That's not the end of the world- there are shuttles from the airport into the city, but it's going to be easiest to get a car at the airport. When you rent a car on Hotwire, you don't find out the exact company you're renting from until after you've committed to the rental.
