they need to change the law. it does not address the lack of affordable housing for parisians. no on

Did you know that it is illegal to sublet an apartment in Paris for less than a year? The New York Times reports that the popular destination city is increasingly cracking down on illegal sublets since the French law passed in 2005 the idea is to counterbalance chicago hotel deals the housing shortage in the city.
We've had many readers contribute their Parisian Homes but have you ever rented a short-term apartment in Paris? Have you noticed the rental landscape has changed in recent years? Share your own experiences in the comments and see the ins/outs and full story at The New York Times | To Address Its Housing Shortage, Paris Cracks Down on Pied- -Terre Rentals .
they need to change the law. it does not address the lack of affordable housing for parisians. no ones going to give a local a one-year lease on their pied-a-terre. the whole point of such a pad is to go there when you - the owner - want to go there.
Not sure about the pied- -terre part, but i have plenty chicago hotel deals of friends here who have had leases for less than a year. There are also plenty of agencies that deal specially in short term rentals.. Lodgis, parisattitude etc
I just got back last week from a Paris vacation spent in a short-term rental. It was fabulous. Having all or most of the comforts of home...namely a kitchen...and the "this is my Paris neighborhood" experience is so much better than a generic, American-centric hotel. I'm already looking forward to doing the same thing next time. What a shame if hotels were the only option.
i've never rented an apartment in paris, but i've also never had an american-centric hotel experience. my hotel experiences have been distinctly french. ridiculously small room, power that only operates via the door key card, staff barging in without even knocking, no 'do not disturb' signs, coffin-size elevators, waterclosets, no a/c, no ice machine, no vending machine, mandatory key return whenever you leave. i include here a tourist hotel and a b b (which has since gone green and added some of those lovely chicago hotel deals luxuries like a/c and ice machines). oh, and they leave the pillows wherever you put them when they clean the room. my sore ankles need much elevation.
