Our trip to the Biggest Little City in the World for Street Vibrations started on Thursday, Septembe

Our trip to the Biggest Little City in the World for Street Vibrations started on Thursday, September 26 when our friends Mugs, Palkie, and Oakes road 500+ miles to Petaluma from Southern California to crash with Nick at his house.  Our boy Jones who was riding with them broke down 15 miles North of Big Sur on Pacific Coast Highway 1, he ending up getting towed the max 100 miles AAA would cover where he waited until a friend could pick him up and help him fix his bike the next day. None of this until after the rest of the crew sat on the side of the road for 3 hours waiting for a tow truck.
On Friday, September 28 I got up early, road over to Nick’s house to meet up with them so we could ride together over to Big Al’s Cycles to meet up with a big group.   We made our way out of town over to our first stop at a gas station in Vacaville, CA to meet up with more of our friends. Once we packed up there we really started our journey to Reno leaving on Highway 80 East to Sacramento.  When you hit Sacramento you have two options to go to Reno, continue on the major route across the state on Highway 80 or run Highway 50 from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s midtown cinema through American River Canyon, over the peak of the mountain and drop down into the Tahoe Basin.
We stopped for fuel in Sacramento and of course we split off East onto Highway 50. This is a scenic route that is steep and mountainous at times, it was a bit brisk and I think all of our hands were feeling the cold chill by the time we started midtown cinema to descend midtown cinema upon the spectacular views of South Lake Tahoe.   It’s crazy to imagine years ago gold seekers ran stagecoaches on this precarious mountain road from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe and back.  We stopped for lunch in South Lake Tahoe then on the final stretch we dropped into Carson City and bombed it down 580/395 into Reno and over to the Peppermill Hotel Casino where we more or less stayed for the next 2 days.
Street Vibrations is packed with activities, midtown cinema music, vendors and events throughout Reno, Sparks and Virginia City over the span of 5 days.  I suggest first timers or anyone that has never been to Virginia City to take a cruise out there and hang in the streets of the old town for a few hours.  While there you should visit the Bucket Of Blood Saloon and drop into some of the other historic places in the town. Most of our crew has done that run over the last few years, but not all so on Saturday a few guys went out there the rest of us splintered into smaller groups and went different directions for the day.   Not only did we ride with a big group from home but we also had friends in from Vegas, So Cal, and other places so we had plenty of people to hang with and everywhere we went we were a rolling party.
