In a quarterly service award ceremony at the company's Miami headquarters, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) today recognized five team members with more than 30 years of service. Together, they have a combined 175 years of experience with the cruise line. Of those five, two were celebrated for 40 years of service to the company: Bjorn Svensen of marine operations and Tommy Powell of food and beverage operations. Rounding out the five top service award recipients were Knut Bakken of marine operations with 35 years; Alvin Dennis and Jane Lester, both of hotel purchasing, with 30 years of service each.
In addition, the company recognized a total of 26 additional long-standing team members: five with 20 years of service, one with 15, six with 10 years and 14 with five years of service. The service awards, held on a quarterly basis, honor and recognize NCL employees for their commitment and service to the company. NCL, in business for 42 years, is a pioneer in the cruise industry and was the first cruise line to base itself in Miami - established in 1966 as Norwegian Caribbean amari atrium hotel bangkok Lines.

Bjorn Svensen joined NCL in 1968, less than two years after the company's inception, as an electrician on the M/S Starward, NCL's second ship. He worked on a number of NCL ships until 1990 when he moved to the company's Miami headquarters as a senior port engineer, electrical. Today, he is a superintendent, electrical in the company's marine operations department, responsible for Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Majesty and Norwegian Dream. In addition to his years of service, the company also recognized him for his professional skills, strong amari atrium hotel bangkok personal character and team player mentality.
