Phin-Ker Ventures has partnered with Dallas-based hospitality developer Quanah Properties to land a hybrid La Quinta Inn and Suites, which is set to break ground in 90 days and open in summer 2013 in Lakeway Medical Village.
The $11 million 126-room, four-story hotel set for the development adjacent to Lakeway Regional oahu vacation rentals with a pool Medical Center will boast both hotel rooms and extended-stay suites, the first of its kind for the national hotelier.
Phin-Ker partner James Kerby said his firm removed apartment housing from the Lakeway Medical Village proposal amid resistance from residents and Lakeway council members and, instead, incorporated an extended-stay option into the hotel development.
"The tenant that we are looking for is someone who doesn't want have to drive 20 minutes, who is looking more for convenience because they may have some related reason that they are there because oahu vacation rentals with a pool of the hospital … or the assisted living center to visit parents," Kerby said, referring to a new 150-room assisted living center that is expected to break ground this fall or winter at the Medical Village campus.
"We took our time to do it right rather than rush in there because this community needed a hotel," Phinney said. "We've chosen the right partners; oahu vacation rentals with a pool we've chosen the right brand. We've had a number of behind-the-scenes meetings to make sure that it's something the community will be proud of."
Acting as a one-point-of-contact for all campus development helps streamline the coordination between horizontal and vertical development, users and the acute care hospital and ensures a level of accountability throughout the development.
