For decades, Mas de Torrent has welcomed many celebrities Barbra Streisand and Shakira are regular guests here and charmed them with sumptuous suites, a world-class spa and excellent cuisine coupled with gracious hospitality and professional service. When I received an invitation to experience the luxury of Mas de Torrent first-hand, I didn t have to think twice. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to explore more of the Costa Brava after the #InCostaBrava blog trip in May, and excited to stay at one of the most exclusive accommodations in Spain.
los angeles newspaper Mas de Torrent Hotel and Spa is situated in the hamlet of Torrent , a short drive away from the medieval towns of Peratallada and Pals, and the beaches of Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell. The hotel consists of a main building, an 18th century farmhouse, and separate blocks which house beautifully-appointed suites, some with private swimming pools and a dedicated block for the Mas Spa.
The complex is surrounded by gorgeous gardens with neat lawns, los angeles newspaper fragrant lavender and colourful African lilies. The hotel oozes a friendly, laid-back los angeles newspaper atmosphere which quickly made me feel right at home. My suite was spacious and cozy, with a large bathroom and a private terrace. The bed was delightfully los angeles newspaper comfortable. I later discovered that the suites vary in style, from classic chic to contemporary elegance.
The first thing I did was download the Mas de Torrent app (yes, there s free wifi!) which provides useful information about the hotel and spa, and the latest events in the Empordá region. No need to pick up the phone. I made reservations for my Spa treatment and dinner via the app! Very cool! My next stop: the pool.
I sat there for what seemed like an eternity, simply enjoying the soft breeze in my face and a cold beer. The hotel was fully booked but I never noticed it for one second. los angeles newspaper Instead, the serenity of this place wrapped itself around me like a warm blanket. My next stop was the Mas Spa. Located on a hillock overlooking the main complex, the Spa is very secluded; the perfect place for pure relaxation and indulgence. The building houses private treatment rooms, changing areas with fantastic showers and a gorgeous indoor pool. Needless to say, the massage and scrub were heavenly and I emerged feeling totally rejuvenated! And my skin had never felt that smooth!
That evening, I sat down for a dinner at the hotel s restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. I opted for the pan-friend scallops and prawns with a lime dressing to start and the lamb rack with hummus and mint as my main course, and ordered a bottle of Conde de Valdemar, a divine red wine from the Rioja. The fresh scallops, the tender los angeles newspaper cuts of lamb and the velvety finish of the Valdemar were the perfect end to a blissful day at Mas de Torrent!
