I woke up this morning reading through the Twitter feed and saw a tweet by the Central delta airlines ticket reservations Park Conservancy offering a free guided walking tour of the NE section of the park at 12:30pm.  I ve seen these tweets a few times but never was available to participate until today!  If you live near the park, or if you don t mind traveling to be near the park, I highly recommend these walks.  I had no idea this area of the park existed, you immediately disappear from the city, even though you re still in the heart of New York City!

Most of the time I loathe the NYC subway system, but on rare occasion like today you ll find me chasing trains.  Every year around the holidays the MTA puts out a fleet of nostalgia trains and buses for all to enjoy.  That is, if you can find one!  Fortunately there are  schedules online that help place you at the right spot in time. It s too bad WordPress makes you pay extra to post video as I got a lot more great looking video clips than photos.  Maybe I ll go again on December 30th!
This is the first year I took some time to enjoy the ride back in time and I honestly can say it was fun although the ride out to Queensborough Plaza goes by quick! There are cars represented from the 1930 s through the 1970 s with ceiling fans, wicker seats and a great display delta airlines ticket reservations of ads and signs.  You could tell there were many train enthusiasts on board wearing their blue and white stripe train gear. The best part, on this train you re allowed to walk freely between cars and if lucky, you might even spot the Polar Express looking train conductor flash his pocket watch and yell all aboard!
